Existence and uniqueness results for a nonlinear evolution equation arising in growing cell populations

Abstract The present paper is concerned with a nonlinear initial–boundary value problem derived from a model introduced by Rotenberg (1983) describing the growth of a cell population. Each cell of this population is distinguished by two parameters: its degree of maturity μ and its maturation velocity v . At mitosis, the daughter cells and mother cells are related by a general reproduction rule. We prove existence and uniqueness results in the case where the total cross-section and the boundary conditions are depending on the total density of population. Local and nonlocal reproduction rules are discussed.

Colorectal cancer fulfils the conditions required for mass screening. Data from controlled studies indicate that it is possible to reduce colorectal cancer mortality at a population level using faecal occult blood testing. Screenings rely on biennial testing in between 50 and 74average risk subjects. Compliance must be over 50%. Abstract After nine years from Romania's accession to the European Union, the advantages are sustained with specific statistical markers, which could have been more positive if the effect of certain identified causes (reduced administrative ability, political instability, extended corruption, high tax evasion etc.) would have been diminished. Counterbalancing the benefits of the accession the opinion polls show the disadvantages. En este trabajo se analizan los resultados de aprendizaje respecto a las ciencias, que alcanzan los futuros maestros y maestras de educación infantil cuando preparan unidades didácticas. Para ello, se ha construido un instrumento de análisis a partir de los resultados de aprendizaje que cabría esperar teniendo en cuenta las competencias que, para nuestra área de conocimiento, aparecen en la memoria de título de Grado de Maestro/a en Educación Infantil de la Universidad de Valencia. We give an explicit example of log Calabi-Yau pairs that are log canonical and have a linearly decreasing Euler characteristic. This is constructed in terms of a degree two covering of a sequence of blow ups of three dimensional projective bundles over the Segre-Hirzebruch surfaces ${\mathbb F}_n$ for every positive integer $n$ big enough.
