Soft tissue integration of different abutment surfaces: An experimental study with histological analysis

OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether abutment surface and surface bio-activation have an effect on soft tissue morphogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS 36 patients (36 implants) were included. Validation of a Portuguese version of the Groningen radiotherapy-induced xerostomia questionnaire

The aim of this study was to validate and determine at pretest level the reliability of the Portuguese version of the Groningen radiotherapy-induced xerostomia questionnaire. This study employed 37 head and neck cancer patients. Each patient signed an informed consent and responded to the Portuguese version of the questionnaire in the form of an interview. This was repeated again after 2 weeks. A standard single question provided a validity check. Sinus elevation by in situ utilization of bone scrapers : technique and results

Objectives: The objective was to present a novel technique for antrostomy performed before sinus elevation in atrophic maxilla for subsequent implant placement. Material and methods: The study included 10 sinus elevations performed by the proposed technique in nine consecutive patients presenting with inadequate posterior maxillary height. The technique is described, calculating the antrostomy surface area, volume of bone tissue obtained and final height attained in each case. A total of 16 implants were placed. Systemic risk factors for peri-implant bone loss: a systematic review and meta-analysis

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of patient-related systemic risk factors (systemic disease, genetic traits, chronic drug or alcohol consumption, and smoking status) on peri-implant bone loss at least 1 year after implant installation and prosthetic loading. Patient-centered outcomes after surgical treatment of peri-implantitis: a prospective clinical study.

Background: Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory process affecting soft and hard tissues surrounding dental implants, causing progressive marginal bone loss. Stability and marginal bone loss in implants placed using piezoelectric osteotomy versus conventional drilling: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background The main objective of this systematic review was to compare primary and secondary implant stability between placement with piezoelectric osteotomy and conventional drilling, comparing marginal bone losses as a secondary objective. Material and Methods An electronic search was conducted using PubMed (MEDLINE), Scopus, and Cochrane Library (Wiley) databases, besides a manual search. Recurrent central giant cell granuloma in the mandible: surgical treatment and dental implant restoration.

Central giant cell granuloma is an uncommon benign intraosseus lesion of jaws. Traditional treatment has been local curettage, although aggressive sub-types have a high tendency to recur. This patient report describes a recurrent central giant cell granuloma involving the body of the mandible in a 48-year-old-woman. Initial treatment of lesion consisted of curettage and peripheral ostectomy. When recurrence was detected one year later, an en bloc resection and defect regeneration with a composite bone graft of autogenous bone, xenograft, and autologous platelet-rich plasma was carried out.
