Magneto-structural study on a series of rhenium(IV) complexes containing biimH2, pyim and bipy ligands

2008

Abstract Three rhenium(IV) mononuclear compounds of formulae [ReCl4(biimH2)] · 2DMF (1), [ReCl4(pyim)] · DMF (2) and [ReCl4(bipy)] (3) (biimH2 = 2,2′-biimidazole, pyim = 2-(2′-pyridyl)imidazole, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine and DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) have been prepared and characterized. The crystal structure of 2 was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with P21/c as space group. The rhenium atom is six-coordinated by four Cl atoms and two nitrogen atoms from a bidentate pyim ligand [average values of Re–Cl and Re–N bonds lengths being 2.330(2) and 2.117(4) A, respectively]. The magnetic properties were investigated from susceptib…

Palladium C–N bond formation catalysed by air-stable robust polydentate ferrocenylphosphines: a comparative study for the efficient and selective cou…

2014

The arylation of aniline derivatives with dichloroarenes under a low palladium content (below the currently used 5 to 10 mol%) was studied using nine different ferrocenylphosphine ligands, including the easily accessible 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene, DPPF. The electron-enriched air-stable tridentate ferrocenylpolyphosphine 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1′-(diisopropylphosphino)-4-tert-butylferrocene, L5, employed in 2 mol% in combination with 1 mol% [PdCl(η3-C3H5)]2 allows an efficient and selective coupling, while such demanding substrates currently induce chloroarene homocoupling and/or dehalogenation processes. The scope and limitation of the optimized system are explored, with a fo…

Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of the malonato-bridged bimetallic chain [Mn(II)Cu(II)(mal)2(H2O)4]·2H2O

2000

Abstract The first malonato-bridged bimetallic chain of formula [MnCu(mal)2(H2O)4]·2H2O (1) (H2mal=malonic acid) was prepared and its structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. Each copper atom in 1 is in a square planar environment formed by four malonate-oxygens from two malonate ligands. The manganese atom is six-coordinated with four water molecules and two cis-coordinated malonate-oxygens from two malonate groups building a distorted octahedral surrounding. The malonate group acts simultaneously as bidentate and monodentate ligand towards copper and manganese atoms respectively, leading to a bimetallic chain. Two structurally different carboxylato-bridges exhibiting an anti–syn…

Crystal structures and magnetic properties of the squarate-O1,On-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu2(phen)4(C4O4)](CF3SO3)2 · 3H2O (n=2) and …

1999

Abstract Two dinuclear copper(II) complexes of the formula [Cu2(phen)4(C4O4)](CF3SO3)2 · 3H2O (1) and [Cu2(bipy)4(C4O4)](CF3SO3)2 · 6H2O (2) [phen=1,10-phenanthroline, bipy=2,2′-bipyridine and C4O4 2−=dianion of 3,4-dihydroxy-3-cyclobuten-1,2-dione (squaric acid)] have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Their structures consist of [Cu2(phen)4(C4O4)]2+ (1) and [Cu2(bipy)4(C4O4)]2+ (2) dinuclear copper(II) cations, uncoordinated CF3SO3 − anions and crystallization water molecules. The copper is in a distorted square pyramidal environment: one squarate-oxygen atom and three phen- (1) or bipy- (2) nitrogen atoms of two phen (1) or bipy (2) terminal ligands f…

Preparation and structural studies on the tBu2Sn(IV) complexes with aromatic mono- and dicarboxylic acids containing hetero {N} donor atom

2004

Nine complexes of 'Bu2Sn(IV)(2+) were obtained in the solid state with ligands containing -COOH group(s) and aromatic (N) donor atom. The binding sites of the ligands were identified by FT-IR spectroscopic measurements. It was found that in most cases the -COO- groups are co-ordinated in monodentate manner. Nevertheless, in some of our complexes, the -COO- group forms bridges between two central {Sn} atoms resulting in the formation of an oligomeric structure, a motif that is characteristic only to the nicotinate compound. These pieces of information and the rationalisation of the experimental Sn-119 Mossbauer nuclear quadrupole splittings, Delta, - according to the point charge model forma…

Multiple Roles of Isocyanides in Palladium-Catalyzed Imidoylative Couplings: A Mechanistic Study

2016

International audience; Kinetic, spectroscopic and computational studies examining a palladium-catalyzed imidoylative coupling highlight the dual role of isocyanides as both substrates and ligands for this class of transformations. The synthesis of secondary amides from aryl halides and water is presented as a case study. The kinetics of the oxidative addition of ArI with RNC-ligated Pd-0 species have been studied and the resulting imidoyl complex [(ArC=NR)Pd(CNR)(2)I] (Ar=4-F-C6H4, R = tBu) has been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The unprecedented ability of this RNC-ligated imidoyl-Pd complex to undergo reductive elimination at room temperature to give the amide in the p…

Construction of Coordination Polymers from Semirigid Ditopic 2,2′-Biimidazole Derivatives: Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Characterization

2017

Eight coordination polymers (CPs), {[Ag(L1)]ClO4}n (1), {[Ag(L2)1.5]ClO4·C2H3N}n (2a), {[Ag(L2)]ClO4}n (2b), [Zn(L1)Cl2]n (3), {[Zn(L2)Cl2]·CHCl3}n (4), {[Cu(L1)2Cl]Cl·H2O}n (5), [Cu2(L2)(μ-Cl)2]n (6), and [Cu4(L2)(μ-Cl)4]n (7) were synthesized via self-assembly of corresponding metal ions and biimidazole based ditopic ligands, 1,1′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-2,2′-biimidazole L1 and 1,1′-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-2,2′-biimidazole L2. These ligands possess conformational flexibility and two pairs of coordination sites: pyridine nitrogen (NPy) atoms and imidazole nitrogen (NIm) atoms. Depending on the metal center in CPs, the biimidazole compounds act as tetra- (1, 7), tri- (2a), or bidentate (2a,…

Dehydrogenative Anodic C−C Coupling of Phenols Bearing Electron‐Withdrawing Groups

2019

Abstract We herein present a metal‐free, electrosynthetic method that enables the direct dehydrogenative coupling reactions of phenols carrying electron‐withdrawing groups for the first time. The reactions are easy to conduct and scalable, as they are carried out in undivided cells and obviate the necessity for additional supporting electrolyte. As such, this conversion is efficient, practical, and thereby environmentally friendly, as production of waste is minimized. The method features a broad substrate scope, and a variety of functional groups are tolerated, providing easy access to precursors for novel polydentate ligands and even heterocycles such as dibenzofurans.

Mononuclear Perfluoroalkyl-Heterocyclic Complexes of Pd(II): Synthesis, Structural Characterization and Antimicrobial Activity

2020

Two mononuclear Pd(II) complexes [PdCl2(pfptp)] (1) and [PdCl2(pfhtp)] (2), with ligands 2-(3-perfluoropropyl-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazole-5yl)-pyridine (pfptp) and 2-(3-perfluoroheptyl-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazole-5yl)-pyridine (pfhtp), were synthesized and structurally characterized. The two complexes showed a bidentate coordination of the ligand occurring through N atom of pyridine ring and N4 atom of 1,2,4-triazole. Both complexes showed antimicrobial activity when tested against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial strains.
