Information sources used for vacation tourists in tourist destinations

2012

This research examines …

L'immagine di una destinazione turistica in una prospettiva attribute-based. Risultati di un'indagine empirica

2008

Any territory today has to communicate in order to render visible to the outside world what it is, what it knows how to do, its qualities and its value in order to improve its image, which represents one of the fundamental components of the intangible patrimony of a destination. In the paste, the tourist marketing literature has concentrated on the image perceived by travellers. Very limited, instead, have been studies on the image perceived by tourist intermediaries, who constitute an important category of mediation in the diffusion of the image of a territory and take on a remarkable role in the development of tourist destinations. The main objective of the present study is to analyze the…

A general framework for collecting and analysing the tracking data of cruise passengers at the destination

2016

Cruise passengers’ behaviour at the destination is a rather poorly investigated phenomenon. The single exit/entry point and the relatively brief visiting time, which characterize cruise passengers’ experience at their destinations, make the use of GPS technology particularly suitable for the analysis of such a relevant phenomenon. The aim of this research is to propose a general framework for collecting and analysing GPS tracking data relating to cruise passengers’ behaviour at their destination. The main prerequisites and research stages for the implementation of surveys on cruise passengers will be described and a set of tools and measures for the analysis of GPS tracking data will be pro…

Environmental Features Associated With Older Adults' Physical Activity in Different Types of Urban Neighborhoods.

2020

The authors studied associations of nature- and infrastructure-based features with physical activity (PA) in different urban neighborhood types; 848 community-dwelling people aged 75–90 years reported PA and three perceived nature-based destinations and seven infrastructure-based features as outdoor mobility facilitators. Neighborhood type was defined using a geographic information system based on proximity to central service areas and residential density (city center, subcenter, and dense and dispersed areas outside centers). PA was higher in dense areas and the city center. Binary logistic regression showed that perceiving nature-based destinations increased the odds for higher PA in the …

Culinary tourism experiences in agri-tourism destinations and sustainable consumption-Understanding Italian tourists' motivations

2019

Culinary tourism represents an emerging component of the tourism industry and encompasses all the traditional values associated with the new trends in tourism: respect for culture and tradition, authenticity and sustainability. Italy is known worldwide for the richness and variety of its gastronomy, and agri-tourism represents one of the most important places where culinary tourists can experience local food and beverages. Street Food as a Special Interest and Sustainable Form of Tourism for Southeast Asia Destinations

2019

Sustainable development is an objective that every destination is aiming at. This chapter provides evidence that street food, as a special interest for of tourism, if appropriately explored, has the potential to contribute significantly to the sustainable tourism development of Southeast Asia, and more generally to emerging destinations. Within this context, there is an opportunity to convert street food into a tourism resource that can align with the SDGs of the UNWTO. From a management point of view, this chapter highlights the fact that destination marketing organisations need to rethink the type of products and services offered to visitors and more importantly how they advertise themsel…

Film Tourism – Locations Are the New Stars

2009

There once was a time when the actual attraction of a movie lied in the capability of the celluloid to let the spectators escape from the everyday, a spare time to leave the life-world environment behind and live the life of a thrilling armchair traveller. Foreign countries and remote regions could easily be mapped and visited without travelling to the actual location. Considering that “the modern world is very much a ‘seen’ phenomenon“ (Jenks 1995:2), one has to come to the assumption that present day travelling and watching movies are somehow connected. Tourism originally was perceived as visitors travelling, whether within their own country or internationally, for pleasure and relaxation…

Arteriosclerosis and other diseases in heads of government and its consequences for the population.

2021

Abstract Heads of government with cerebrovascular arteriosclerosis and other diseases in key historical moments have led to decisions that have marked the destiny of countries not always in a beneficial direction. Severe diseases in political leaders in power have often been hidden from citiziens with the collaboration of personal physicians. The confidentiality of the patient-doctor relationship in special political circumstances should be re examined and subjected to debate. Legal provisions to ensure total transparency of medical information about the health of heads of government should be implemented. Transparency ensures the trust of citizens.
