Organo-Clay Nanomaterials Based on Halloysite and Cyclodextrin as Carriers for Polyphenolic Compounds

Hybrid material based on halloysite covalently linked to a hyper-reticulated cyclodextrin network was investigated as a potential carrier for polyphenolic compounds. The absorption ability of the hybrid system was studied in different pH conditions as well as the kinetic release of curcumin, chosen as a drug model. A preliminary study was performed to assess the antioxidant capacity of the obtained carrier. Asymmetric hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate over aqueous dispersed Pt nanoparticles stabilized by a cinchonidine-functionalized β-cyclodextrin

International audience; Cinchonidine-functionalized β-cyclodextrin was used as stabilizing agent for platinum nanoparticles dispersed in water, but also as chiral modifier for the asymmetric hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate at 30 °C under 40 bar of hydrogen. This functionalized cyclodextrin allowed getting more stable, more catalytically active and also more enantioselective Pt nanoparticles compared to control catalytic systems. Detecting ni(ii) in aqueous solution by 3-(2-pyridyl)-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine and dimethyl-beta-cyclodextrin

Abstract A new supramolecular sensitizer for nickel(II) ion in aqueous solution based on a pyridyltriazolopyridine-cyclodextrin inclusion complex is proposed. The inclusion complexation behavior, characterization and binding ability of pyridyltriazolopyridine (PTP) with dimethyl-β-cyclodextrin (DMβCD) has been investigated both in solution and solid state by means of absorption, fluorescence, 1H NMR, DSC, and molecular modeling methods. The stoichiometry of the inclusion complex is 1:1, and the thermodynamic studies indicate that the inclusion of PTP is mainly an entropic driven process. Spectroscopic studies of the interaction of 3-(2-thienyl)-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine with 2,6-dimethyl-β-cyclodextrin and ctDNA

The inclusion complexation behavior of 3-(2-thienyl)-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a] pyridine (TTP) with native β-cyclodextrin and derivatized cyclodextrins was investigated. Stability constants for complexes with 1 : 1 molar ratios were calculated from phase solubility diagrams. The solubilizing efficiency of the TTP inclusion complex is enhanced in the order of DMβCD > HPβCD > βCD. The TTP-DMβCD inclusion complex was further characterized in solution by means of absorption, fluorescence, 2D NMR and molecular modeling methods. Structural and physicochemical characterization of the inclusion complexes of cyclomaltooligosaccharides (cyclodextrins) with melatonin

The stoichiometry, geometry, stability, and solubility of the inclusion complexes of melatonin (MLT) with native cyclomaltooligosaccharides (α-, β- or γ-cyclodextrins, CDs) are determined experimentally by high-resolution NMR spectroscopy, calorimetric and solubility measurements, and mass spectrometry. The observed differences are discussed in terms of molecular recognition expression of the host-guest (h-g) interactions within the hydrophobic CDs cavities of different size. Photosynthesized silver-polyaminocyclodextrin nanocomposites as promising antibacterial agents with improved activity

Ag nanocomposites were prepared by photoreduction of ammoniacal silver acetate in the presence of poly-{6-[3-(2-(3-aminopropylamino)ethylamino)propylamino]}-(6-deoxy)-β-CD (amCD). The obtained systems were characterized by means of various complementary techniques (UV-vis, FT-IR, TEM, SAED). In particular, FT-IR spectroscopy evidenced a partial oxidative degradation of the polyamine branches of the capping auxiliary, due to the fact that these groups function as a sacrificial reducing agent in the photoinduced formation of the Ag metal core. Synergistic Activity of Silver Nanoparticles and Polyaminocyclodextrins in Nanosponge Architectures

Four new composite materials, formed by silver nanoparticles embedded in polyamino-cyclodextrin nanosponge architectures, were designed exploiting the affinity of polyamino-cyclodextrins towards Ag+ ions. These materials were characterized by means of different techniques (thermogravimetry, FT-IR, solid state NMR, SEM, HR-TEM), and tested as catalysts for the reduction of nitroarenes and the oxidative coupling of anilines.
