Interactions of Dioxouranium(VI) with Amines in Aqueous Solution

2010

The interaction of the dioxouranium(VI) ion with five low molecular weight polyamines (ethylenediamine, putrescine, cadaverine, spermidine, and spermine) and with poly(allyl)amine (15 kDa) was studied potentiometrically (ISE-H + glass electrode) at T ) 298.15 K. Investigations were carried out in NaNO3 ionic medium, at I ) 0.1 mol · L -1 (and 0.5 mol · L -1 for poly(allyl)amine only), in the pH range 3.5 to 5.5, before the formation of uranyl insoluble species. The results gave evidence for the formation of two species, namely, UO2L 2+ and UO2L(OH) + for the diamine systems (ethylenediamine, putrescine, cadaverine), UO2L 2+ and UO2LH 3+ for spermidine, and UO2LH 3+ and UO2LH2 4+ for spermin…

Preparation and characterization of hexyl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC

2008

The preparation of hexyl methacrylate (HMA) monolithic columns for CEC separations has been investigated with two initiation systems: (i) ammonium peroxodisulphate and TEMED to activate the polymerization reaction, and (ii) by thermal initiation with AIBN. For both initiators, the influence of composition of porogenic solvent on morphological and chromatographic properties of monoliths was investigated. Two porogenic solvent systems, aqueous and non-aqueous media, were also studied for monolithic beds polymerized with AIBN. Under optimal conditions, low minimum plate heights (9.6 mum for peroxodisulphate, 8.4 and 10.0 mum for AIBN in aqueous and non-aqueous porogenic solvents, respectively)…

Peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator for methacrylate-ester monolithic columns for capillary electrochromatography

2008

Organic monolithic stationary phases for CEC were synthesized in situ in fused-silica capillaries. Polymerization mixtures were composed of butyl methacrylate, ethylene dimethacrylate, and [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethyl ammonium chloride in the presence of a porogenic solvent, using ammonium peroxodisulfate as chemical initiator, and N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine to activate the reaction. The influence of the amount of initiator, temperature, and composition of porogenic solvent on the physical and chromatographic properties of monolithic stationary phases has been investigated. A minimum plate height of 14.5 microm was obtained at 18 wt% of 1,4-butanediol in the polymerization …

Inulin-Ethylenediamine Coated SPIONs Magnetoplexes: A Promising Tool for Improving siRNA Delivery.

2015

An inulin based polycation (Inu-EDA) has been synthesized by the grafting of ethylenediamine molecules onto inulin backbone. The obtained inulin copolymer has been though to coat SPIONs (IC-SPIONs) and obtain stable magnetoplexes by complexation of IC-SPIONs with a model duplexed siRNA, for improving oligonucleotide transfection efficiency. The physical-chemical characteristics of IC-SPIONs and IC-SPIONs/siRNA magnetoplexes have been investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopies, dynamic light scattering, FT-IR and qualitative surface elementary analysis. Cell compatibility and internalization in vitro of IC-SPIONs have been evaluated by MTS and fluorescence microscopy resp…

The reaction of aromatic α,β-unsaturated ketones with 4,5-diamino-1,6- dihydropyrimidin-6-ones

1994

The reaction of 4,5-diamino-1,6-dihydropyrimidin-6-ones 1 with one equivalent of the chalcones 2 leads in an acidic medium to the formation of the 2,4-diaryl-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-pyrimido[4,5-b][1,4]diazepin-6-ones 3a-m. The structure elucidation of the products is based on detailed nmr investigations including selective 13C[1H] decoupling experiments.

Caries arresting effect of silver diamine fluoride on dentine carious lesion with S. mutans and L. acidophilus dual-species cariogenic biofilm

2013

OBJECTIVES: This in vitro study investigated the effects of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) on dentine carious lesion with cariogenic biofilm. STUDY DESIGN: Thirty human dentine blocks were inoculated with Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus dual-species biofilm to create carious lesion. They were equally divided into test and control group to receive topical application of SDF and water. After incubation anaerobically using micro-well plate at 37oC for 7 days, the biofilms were evaluated for kinetics, morphology and viability by colony forming units (CFU), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and confocal microscopy (CLSM), respectively. The carious lesion underwent crystal cha…

Separation of chelating agents as copper complexes by capillary zone electrophoresis using quaternary ammonium bromides as additives in N-methylforma…

2006

This study presents the use of quaternary ammonium bromides as additives in N-methylformamide (NMF) for the separation and quantification of chelating agents as copper complexes by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE). The new quaternary ammonium bromides were synthesized in our laboratory and used for the first time for CZE applications performed in NMF media. The methods were developed and optimized for determination of six chelating agents (trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid (CDTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine-N,N',N'-triacetic acid (HEDTA), nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) and trieth…

On the synthesis and characterization of layered antimony(III) phosphate and its interaction with moist ammonia and amines

1998

Samples of antimony(III) phosphate, a layered material, were prepared at room temperature, using the two allotropic forms of Sb2O3, layered valentinite and cubic senarmontite. The compounds were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric–differential thermal analysis. Solids exposed to ammonia, ethylenediamine, or hydrazine vapors also were studied. The interaction between SbPO4 and the bases always led to the formation of stoichiometric amounts of Sb2O3 and hydrogen phosphate(–2) salts of the bases. With ammonia, the SbPO4 raw materials gave rise to valentinite or senarmontite, depending on which Sb2O3 allotropic form was used to prepare antimony phosp…

Simple high-performance liquid chromatographic assay for polyamines and their monoacetyl derivatives.

1993

A rapid reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method, using pre-column derivatization with benzoyl chloride and ultraviolet detection at 254 nm, was developed for the simultaneous measurement of polyamines and their monoacetyl derivatives. Calibration curves were linear for concentrations from 1.25 to 25 nmol/ml. The method was employed to assay these compounds in chick embryo retina explants using organic solvent extraction and 1,7-diaminoheptane as an internal standard. This simple and sensitive method can be applied to routine determinations of these compounds in various biological samples.
