The aim of the article is to compare the preliminary results of the research on the data gathered in the VILLA project with the reflections of the teacher conducting all the sessions (ten courses in Polish for beginners). The article consists of four parts. The first one presents the basic information about the project. Based on the religions represented in the children's group, Norwegian kindergartens are required to have activities related to religious festivals. The requirement is aiming both on mutual interest, respect and tolerance between the children and on the recognition of the life world of the children affiliated with the religion in point. The study demonstrates that recognition of the Muslim festival Id al-fitr takes place in a very limited part of the kindergartens, and that the cooperation with parents is qualitatively different between majority and minority religions. The article presents the results of studies aimed at evaluating the level of lexicological and lexical competence of middle school students, and the results of a study of school determinants of this competence assessed through surveys, interviews and in‑class observation. The level of lexicological competence was evaluated as good, whereas the textual examination revealed lexical competence to be lower and more varied. This papers presents a practical work model as well as an educational theory discussion on the status and potential of art work in teaching and learning math in early childhood education. The central idea is to let the child’s free creative art activity reveal, or “teach”, whatever mathematical thinking was inherent in the creative process. Early algebra is a phase that could fit the gap between arithmetic and algebra.
