Effect of process parameters and crystal orientation on 3D anisotropic stress during CZ and FZ growth of silicon

2017

Abstract Simulations of 3D anisotropic stress are carried out in and oriented Si crystals grown by FZ and CZ processes for different diameters, growth rates and process stages. Temperature dependent elastic constants and thermal expansion coefficients are used in the FE simulations. The von Mises stress at the triple point line is ~5–11% higher in crystals compared to crystals. The process parameters have a larger effect on the von Mises stress than the crystal orientation. Generally, the crystal has a higher azimuthal variation of stress along the triple point line (~8%) than the crystal (~2%). The presence of a crystal ridge increases the stress beside the ridge and decreases it on the ri…

Gel combustion synthesis and magnetic properties of CoFe2O4, ZnFe2O4, and MgFe2O4 using 6-aminohexanoic acid as a new fuel

2020

Abstract For the first time, 6-aminohexanoic acid is used as an alternative fuel in the synthesis of the spinel ferrites with compositions CoFe2O4, ZnFe2O4 and MgFe2O4 using gel combustion synthesis with different oxidizer-to-fuel (O/F) ratios. The gel precursors were studied by differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry (DTA/TG), which showed that the ignition temperature depends on the gel precursor, being around 230 °C, 130 °C and 275 °C for CoFe2O4, ZnFe2O4, and MgFe2O4, respectively. These results showed than the 6-aminohexanoic acid has an ignition temperature lower than the urea and the citric acid when were used in the synthesis of the spinel ferrites by gel combustion. More…

On the solution of a parabolic PDE involving a gas flow through a semi-infinite porous medium

2021

Abstract Taking as start point the parabolic partial differential equation with the respective initial and boundary conditions, the present research focuses onto the flow of a sample of waste-water derived from a standard/conventional dyeing process. In terms of a highly prioritized concern, meaning environment decontamination and protection, in order to remove the dyes from the waste waters, photocatalyses like ZnO or TiO2 nanoparticles were formulated, due to their high surface energy which makes them extremely reactive and attractive. According to the basics of ideal fluid, the key point is the gas flow through an ideal porous pipe consisting of nanoparticles bound one to each other, for…

Dielectric, thermal and Raman spectroscopy studies of lead-free (Na0.5Bi0.5)1−xSrxTiO3 (x = 0, 0.04 and 0.06) ceramics

2016

ABSTRACTLead-free (Na0.5Bi0.5)1−xSrxTiO3 (x = 0, 0.04 and 0.06) ceramics with relative densities above 97% were prepared by solid-state synthesis process. Their dielectric, thermal and Raman properties were studied. X-ray diffraction analysis shows perovskite structure with rhombohedral symmetry at room temperature. Sr doping of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT) results in an increase of the dielectric permittivity, diffusing of the permittivity maximum and its shift toward lower temperatures. The temperature of the rhombohedral–tetragonal phase transition indicated by the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) peak and relaxational dielectric anomaly near the depolarization temperature are also shifte…

THE GYROTRON STARTUP SCENARIO IN THE SINGLE MODE TIME DEPENDENT APPROACH

2019

The paper explains how to solve the Gyrotron equation system in the Single Mode Time Dependent Approach. In particular, we point out problems encountered when solving these well-known equations. The starting current estimation approach a using time model is suggested. The solution has been implemented in the Matlab code, which is attached to the article.

Negative differential resistance and threshold-switching in conical nanopores with KF solutions

2021

Negative differential resistance (NDR) phenomena are under-explored in nanostructures operating in the liquid state. We characterize experimentally the NDR and threshold switching phenomena observed when conical nanopores are immersed in two identical KF solutions at low concentration. Sharp current drops in the nA range are obtained for applied voltages exceeding thresholds close to 1 V and a wide frequency window, which suggests that the threshold switching can be used to amplify small electrical perturbations because a small change in voltage typically results in a large change in current. While we have not given a detailed physical mechanism here, a phenomenological model is also includ…

Lidar sounding of volcanic plumes

2013

ABSTRACT Accurate knowledge of gas composition in volcanic plumes has high scientific and societal value. On the one hand, it gives information on the geophysical processes taking place inside volcanos; on the other hand, it provides alert on possible eruptions. For this reasons, it has been suggested to monitor volcanic plumes by lidar. In particular, one of the aims of the FP7 ERC project BRIDGE is the measurement of CO 2 concentration in volcanic gases by differential absorption lidar. This is a very challenging task due to the harsh environment, the narrowness and weakness of the CO 2 absorption lines and the difficulty to procure a suitable laser source. This paper, after a review on r…

Melt inclusions track melt evolution and degassing of Etnean magmas in the last 15 ka

2019

We present major elements compositions and volatiles contents of olivine-hosted melt inclusions from Etna volcano (Italy), which extend the existing database with the aim of interpreting the chemical variability of Etnean magmas over the last 15 ka. Olivine phenocrysts were selected from the most primitive Fall Stratified (FS) eruptive products of picritic composition (Mg# = 67–70, Fo 89–91 ), the Mt. Spagnolo eccentric lavas (Mg# = 52–64, Fo 82–88 ) and among the more recent 2002–2013 eruptive products (Mg# = 33–53, Fo 68–83 ). Crystal fractionation and degassing processes were modeled at temperatures of 1050–1300 °C, pressures <500 MPa, and oxygen fugacity between 1 and 2 log units abo…

Igneous petrology, zircon geochronology and geochemistry of multiply emplaced granitoid bodies from the Palaeoproterozoic Usagaran domain in central …

2019

Abstract This study reports igneous petrology, zircon ages and geochemistry for Palaeoproterozoic I-type granitic, granodioritic, Qtz-monzonitic, Qtz-monzodioritic and monzodioritic rocks from the Usagaran domain of southwestern Tanzania. These rocks can be subdivided into three groups according to their age, T-t evolution and geochemistry. The oldest group is made up of amphibolite-facies calcic-alkalic gneisses, ranging in age between ∼1984 and ∼1910 Ma, which have been divided into two subgroups regarding their T-t evolution. The first subgroup shows a constant increase in T, and the second subgroup first shows a decrease in T, followed by an increase in T. The second group consists of a…

Geomorphological evolution of western Sicily, Italy

2017

Abstract This paper proposes a morphoevolutionary model for western Sicily. Sicily is a chain–foredeep–foreland system still being built, with tectonic activity involving uplift which tends to create new relief. To reconstruct the morphoevolutionary model, geological, and geomorphological studies were done on the basis of field survey and aerial photographic interpretation. The collected data show large areas characterized by specific geological, geomorphological, and topographical settings with rocks, landforms, and landscapes progressively older from south to north Sicily. The achieved results display: (1) gradual emersion of new areas due to uplift, its interaction with the Quaternary gl…
