High-Resolution Spectroscopy and Preliminary Global Analysis of C–H Stretching Vibrations of C2H4 in the 3000 and 6000 cm-1 Regions

International audience; Ethylene (ethene, H2C=CH2) is a naturally occurring compound in ambient air that affects atmospheric chemistry and global climate. The C2H4 spectrum is available in databases only for the 1000 and 3000 cm−1 ranges. In this work, the ethylene absorption spectrum was measured in the 6030- 6250 cm−1 range with the use of a high resolution Bruker IFS 125HR Fourierspectrometer and a two-channel opto-acoustic spectrometer with a diode laser. As a secondary standard of wavelengths, the methane absorption spectrum was used in both cases. Solar blind AlGaN photodetectors with a very high spectral selectivity

Solar blind detectors based on AlGaN heterostructures grown on sapphire by Molecular Beam Epitaxy and with a dielectric interference filter deposited on the back side are demonstrated to provide record spectral selectivity. Rejection ratios of 2 x 10(4), and better than 5 x 10(4), measured between 280 and 320 nm, are achieved in Metal Semiconductor Metal detectors and Schottky diodes respectively. The whole detector process is fully compatible with low cost array fabrication.

Current modulation induced stability in laser diode under high optical feedback strength

The back-reflection of emitted laser beam (optical feedback, also know as selfmixing) from various external interfaces are sufficient to cause instability, and prohibiting its use in various fields such as communication, spectroscopy, imaging to name a few. So it is desirable to study the laser dynamics and the conditions causing it to be stable in spite of strong optical feedback. MuPix and ATLASPix -- Architectures and Results

High Voltage Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (HV-MAPS) are based on a commercial High Voltage CMOS process and collect charge by drift inside a reversely biased diode. HV-MAPS represent a promising technology for future pixel tracking detectors. Two recent developments are presented. The MuPix has a continuous readout and is being developed for the Mu3e experiment whereas the ATLASPix is being developed for LHC applications with a triggered readout. Laser-light backscattering imaging for early decay detection in citrus fruit using both a statistical and a physical model

Abstract The early detection of decay caused by fungi in citrus fruit is a primary concern in the post-harvest phase, the automation of this task still being a challenge. This work reports new progress in the automatic detection of early symptoms of decay in citrus fruit after infection with the pathogen Penicillium digitatum using laser-light backscattering imaging. Observability of the Risken–Nummedal–Graham–Haken instability in Nd:YAG lasers

Multilongitudinal mode instability in ring Nd:YAG lasers is theoretically analyzed. After we review the way in which the standard two-level laser theory applies to this laser we extend the theoretical treatment to include transverse effects. We do this by taking into account the finite transverse section of the active medium and by assuming a Gaussian transverse distribution for the intracavity field. Finally we demonstrate that multimode emission develops whenever the intracavity field waist diameter is almost equal to the active rod diameter.
