Parantamisen varaa ilman et tarvii tehhä mittään : diskurssianalyysi triathlonharrastajien suunterveyskäyttäytymisen muutospuheesta

2017

Suunterveys on tärkeä osa yleistä terveyttä ja elämänlaatua. Suuren suosion saavuttanut kestävyyslaji triathlon tuo harrastajilleen vaativien harjoitus- ja ravitsemusmenetelmien lisäksi mukanaan haasteet suunterveydelle. Triathlonistien on todettu asettavan itsensä usein tiedostamattaan riskiin suunterveyden näkökulmasta, ja heillä on todettu olevan parantamisen varaa suunterveystottumuksissaan. Terveyskäyttäytymisen muutos on kuitenkin haastava prosessi.

The pain threshold of high-threshold mechanosensitive receptors subsequent to maximal eccentric exercise is a potential marker in the prediction of D…

2017

Background Delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) refers to dull pain and discomfort in people after participating in exercise, sport or recreational physical activities. The aim of this study was to detect underlying mechanical thresholds in an experimental model of DOMS. Methods Randomised study to detect mechanical pain thresholds in a randomised order following experimentally induced DOMS of the non-dominant arm in healthy participants. Main outcome was the detection of the pressure pain threshold (PPT), secondary thresholds included mechanical detection (MDT) and pain thresholds (MPT), pain intensity, pain perceptions and the maximum isometric voluntary force (MIVF). Results Twenty volun…

Hypokalemic rhabdomyolysis associated with Bartter's syndrome.

1983

Severe potassium deficiency is an uncommon cause of rhabdomyolysis. We recently treated a 45-year-old patient with myalgia, serious generalized weakness, increased serum creatine kinase and myoglobin level as well as excessive hypokalemia. Histological examination of deltoid muscle biopsy showed rhabdomyolysis. After complete recovery of muscle damage by potassium substitution Bartter's syndrome proved to be the cause of initial and persistent hypokalemia.

Myoadenylate deaminase deficiency

1987

Myoadenylate deaminase (MAD) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the purine nucleotide cycle which is biochemically linked to glycolysis and the citric cycle and thereby providing energy during intense muscular activity. In muscle fibers, myoadenylate deaminase operates at considerably higher activity levels than in other organs. First detected using enzyme-histochemical methods, it now appears that deficiency of myoadenylate deaminase is one of the most frequent enzyme defects in muscle. The primary defect may occur as an isolated nosological entity or not infrequently it is also associated with a large spectrum of different neuromuscular conditions. It seems to be the primary unassociated MAD …

Aim Our study aimed to investigate changes of different markers for routine assessment of fatigue and recovery in response to high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Methods 22 well-trained male and female team sport athletes (age, 23.0 ± 2.7 years; VO2max, 57.6 ± 8.6 mL·min·kg−1) participated in a six-day running-based HIIT-microcycle with a total of eleven HIIT sessions. Repeated sprint ability (RSA; criterion measure of fatigue and recovery), countermovement jump (CMJ) height, jump efficiency in a multiple rebound jump test (MRJ), 20-m sprint performance, muscle contractile properties, serum concentrations of creatinkinase (CK), c-reactive protein (CRP) and urea as well as perceived mus…

"Everybody lies". Éthique médicale, communication médecin-patient et House M.D. : une approche didactique.

2019

Medical ethics is based on the Hippocratic Oath, whose principles of respect and benevolence have been integrated and updated in the official texts that govern the rights and duties of the medical community, including the Helsinki Declaration on Bioethics and the Code of Ethics for Medical Practice (Gold et al. 1996). The doctor-patient relationship is at the heart of medical practice and may be associated with ethical issues when announcing a diagnosis, for example; this implies that practitioners must master communication skills in accordance with medical ethics. Kurtz & al. have written the Calgary-Cambridge Referenced Observation Guides with the aim of enabling (future) professionals to…

2016

Media diversification and information superhighways that have become faster and faster have boosted the circulation of economic terms in the popular press, along with the interaction between editorial contents targeted at the general population, which are similar in nature. This twin phenomenon of circulation and interaction was highlighted in a contrastive study of the way the German and the French press managed the euro crisis between 2011 and 2013: articles devoted to the debt of countries that are going through hard economic times require expert knowledge, but also resort to popularization strategies that show multi-level interdiscursivity.
