Decay pathway determination of even-size dicationic silver clusters: Ag162+ and Ag182+ revisited by pre-precursor selection and sequential decay

2000

Abstract It is demonstrated how by selection of pre-precursor cluster ions Ag 2 n +1 2+ and collision-induced dissociation an ensemble of Ag 2 n 2+ can be produced, which is not contaminated by Ag n + clusters of the same size-to-charge state ratio, n / z . By use of this technique, Ag 16 2+ and Ag 18 2+ precursor ensembles have been prepared for further investigations. They are observed to decay by neutral monomer evaporation, Ag 2 n 2+ →Ag 2 n −1 2+ +Ag, and trimer fission, Ag 2 n 2+ →Ag 2 n −3 + +Ag 3 + , and show no sign of symmetric fission.

La tragedia española del Siglo de Oro en su contexto europeo: el canon trágico en Francia e Inglaterra

2017

Tragedy was born in Greece and was subsequently claimed and defended in Europe during the Renaissance and Baroque but, this being a gender as orthodox as changeable, it will be necessary to resort to a new reading of its components in order to adapt them to the reality of the Golden Age. Humanism promotes this recovery of the classical world and generates a significant literature on drama precepts that will not develop the same way in all European countries. While Italy and France opt for the acceptance and conversion of the ideas of Aristotle and Horace into style rules, Spain and England cannot fail to point out the dramatic dissonance between stage theory and practice, and, the aim of pl…

Examining the Impact of eWOM-Triggered Customer-to-Customer Interactions on Travelers’ Repurchase and Social Media Engagement

2021

Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) communication on social media has revolutionized how travelers search for and share information and how they interact with one another digitally. This research examines the effects of eWOM-triggered customer-to-customer (C2C) interactions on travelers’ post-eWOM behaviors (i.e., repurchase and customer engagement) in a cross-cultural context. Drawing upon cognitive dissonance theory, a scenario-based experiment was conducted using a sample of 461 African tourists with recent intracontinental travel experience. Our findings suggest that a customer’s repurchase intention and engagement in social media C2C interactions are significantly influenced when their eW…

Variational methods for the steady state response of elastic–plastic solids subjected to cyclic loads

2003

Abstract Solids (or structures) of elastic–plastic internal variable material models and subjected to cyclic loads are considered. A minimum net resistant power theorem, direct consequence of the classical maximum intrinsic dissipation theorem of plasticity theory, is envisioned which describes the material behavior by determining the plastic flow mechanism (if any) corresponding to a given stress/hardening state. A maximum principle is provided which characterizes the optimal initial stress/hardening state of a cyclically loaded structure as the one such that the plastic strain and kinematic internal variable increments produced over a cycle are kinematically admissible. A steady cycle min…

Observable geometric phase induced by a cyclically evolving dissipative process

2006

In a prevous paper (Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 150403 (2006)) we have proposed a new way to generate an observable geometric phase on a quantum system by means of a completely incoherent phenomenon. The basic idea was to force the ground state of the system to evolve ciclically by "adiabatically" manipulating the environment with which it interacts. The specific scheme we have previously analyzed, consisting of a multilevel atom interacting with a broad-band squeezed vacuum bosonic bath whose squeezing parameters are smoothly changed in time along a closed loop, is here solved in a more direct way. This new solution emphasizes how the geometric phase on the ground state of the system is indeed du…

Monolayer Formation of Molybdenum Carbonyl on Cu(111) Revealed by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Density Functional Theory

2012

International audience; Molybdenum carbonyl Mo(CO)(6) was adsorbed on the Cu(111) surface at 160 K in the monolayer coverage range and studied by scanning tunneling microscopy. A well-ordered monolayer of hexacarbonyl molecules was observed experimentally for the first time. The monolayer has a hexagonal structure compatible with a (root 7 x root 7)R19 superlattice on the copper (111) plane. The arrangement and orientation of the molecules on the surface were determined by density functional theory calculations, including van der Waals interactions. The comparison of adsorption and cohesive energies reveals that the molecule-substrate interaction is stronger than the intermolecular one, whi…

Darcy–Forchheimer Magnetized Nanofluid flow along with Heating and Dissipation Effects over a Shrinking Exponential Sheet with Stability Analysis

2022

Nanoparticles have presented various hurdles to the scientific community during the past decade. The nanoparticles dispersed in diverse base fluids can alter the properties of fluid flow and heat transmission. In the current examination, a mathematical model for the 2D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Darcy–Forchheimer nanofluid flow across an exponentially contracting sheet is presented. In this mathematical model, the effects of viscous dissipation, joule heating, first-order velocity, and thermal slip conditions are also examined. Using similarity transformations, a system of partial differential equations (PDEs) is converted into a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The problem is …
