Adducts of 1,4-diazabutadienes with group IIB metal halides

1981

Abstract The reactions of 1,4-diazabutadienes (or α-diimines) RNC(R′)C(R″)NR, DAB, (R = p -C 6 H 4 OMe, R′ = R″ = H, DAB I ; R = p -C 6 H 4 OMe,R′ = H, R″ = Me, DAB II ; R = p -C 6 H 4 OMe, R′= R″ = Me; DAB III ; R = CMe 3 , R′ = R″ = H, DAB IV ) with MX 2 M = Zn, Cd, Hg; X = CI, Br) yield in general 1/1 adducts. These species are assigned a monomeric configuration with a σ,σ′-N,N′, chelating DAB ligand for M = Zn, Hg, whereas the CdCl 2 adducts have polymeric structures with terminal and/or bridging chlorides. In the reactions of CdCl 2 with DAB I or DAB IV polymeric species [(CdCl 2 ) 2 (DAB)] x are obtained in which all chlorides are bridging. Spectrophotometric dissociation equilib…

UV photostability of metal phthalocyanines in organic solvents

2003

Kinetic studies of photochemical reactions induced by UV radiation in solutions of metal phthalocyanines have been carried out to determine the factors which might have influenced the stability of photosensitized phthalocyanines. Complexes of the molecular type Mpc, M'(2)pc, and Lnpc(2) (where M = Li, Mg, Fe, Co, Zn, Pb; M'= Tl; Ln = rare earth; pc = phthalocyanine ligand, C(32)H(16)N(8)(2-)) were investigated in DMF, DMSO, and pyridine. Progressive decay of the phthalocyanine macrocycle due to absorption of UV light was observed. Phthalimide found in the final photolysis product may indicate some chemically bonded oxygen involved in the solid phthalocyanine material. Fluorescence lifetimes…

ChemInform Abstract: Organoelement Derivatives of Steroids: Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Diorganotin Chloride Adducts of Hormones.

1987

Abstract Ten new diorganotin dichloride adducts of hormones of the type R 2 SnCl 2 ·2L [where R = Me, Et, n-Bu, Oct and Ph; L = 4-androsten-17s-ol-3-one ( A ); 5-androsten-3s-ol-17-one ( B ); 4-androsten-17α- methyl-17s-ol-3-one ( C ) and 3,17-dihydroxy-5- pregnene-20-one ( D )] have been prepared and characterized at 297 K and 223 K. Spectroscopic measurements (IR; Raman; 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn NMR) suggest the dissociation or fast ligand exchange in solution at 297 K. Hexa-coordinated adducts with bonding through carbonyl oxygen and trans -R groups in octahedral geometry are formulated at 223 K.

Light-Induced Protein-Matrix Uncoupling and Protein Relaxation in Dry Samples of Trehalose-Coated MbCO at Room Temperature

2005

In humid samples of trehalose-coated carboxy-myoglobin (MbCO), thermally driven conformational relaxation takes place after photodissociation of the carbon monoxide (CO) molecule at room temperature. In such samples, because of the extreme viscosity of the external matrix, photodissociated CO cannot diffuse out of the protein and explores the whole (proximal and distal side) heme pocket, experiencing averaged protein heme pocket structures, as a result of the presence of Brownian motions. At variance, in very dry samples, a lower portion of the photodissociated CO diffuses from the distal to the proximal heme pocket side probing in nonaveraged structures. We revisit here the flash photolysi…

Influence of temperature and NaCl on the release in aqueous liquid media of aroma compounds encapsulated in edible films

2012

This work analyses the release of n-hexanal and D-limonene from edible films, previously encapsulated in the iota-carrageenan matrix (with and without lipid). Both volatile compounds have different physicochemical properties. The effect of temperature (25 degrees C and 37 degrees C) and dissolution medium (water and 0.9% NaCl) on the release and retention of aroma compounds were studied. Hydrophobicity and wettability properties of active iota-carrageenan films were also studied and they were related with the internal and surface microstructure of films. Results highlight that D-limonene is encapsulated in the lipid phase of the films decreasing the release in the salt medium. D-limonene, t…

Vascular labeling of the head and neck vessels : technique, advantages and limitations

2017

Background Vascular staining techniques have been used to describe the vascular structures of several anatomic areas. However, few reports have described this procedure in the head and neck region. This paper describes a head and neck vascular labeling procedure, and describes some of the technical complications that may occur. Material and methods Fifteen specimen cadaver heads were prepared. After drying the vascular system, the internal carotid arteries were ligated and a solution with latex and a gelling agent was injected into the internal carotid arteries and external jugular veins. Two different colors were employed to differentiate arteries from veins. A total of 60ml latex was inje…

Reconciling time, space and function: a new dorsal-ventral stream model of sentence comprehension.

2013

We present a new dorsal–ventral stream framework for language comprehension which unifies basic neurobiological assumptions (Rauschecker & Scott, 2009) with a cross-linguistic neurocognitive sentence comprehension model (eADM; Bornkessel & Schlesewsky, 2006). The dissociation between (time-dependent)syntactic structure-building and (time-independent) sentence interpretation assumed within thee ADM provides a basis for the division of labour between the dorsal and ventral streams in comprehension. We posit that the ventral stream performs time-independent unifications of conceptual schemata, serving to create auditory objects of increasing complexity. The dorsal stream engages in the time-depe…

Doesdarknesslead tohappiness? Masked suffix priming effects

2008

Masked affix priming effects have usually been obtained for words sharing the initial affix (e.g., re action- RE FORM). However, prior evidence on masked suffix priming effects (e.g., bak er -WALK ER ) is inconclusive. In the present series of masked priming lexical decision experiments, a target word was briefly preceded by a morphologically or orthographically related prime, or by an unrelated prime. In Experiment 1, the prime words in the suffix priming condition were formed by their suffixes (e.g., er -WALK ER ). In Experiment 2, the primes included the suffix inserted in a nonsense symbol string (e.g., %%%% er -WALK ER ). In Experiment 3, the primes were formed by a real word that shar…

Interpreting in refugee contexts in Spain. An outstanding issue

2018

Interpreting in refugee contexts (IRC) has long been invisible to Western societies and Interpreting Studies. This paper aims at describing the background and features of IRC, and presents a small-scale qualitative study, whose main objectives are: exploring interpreters' perception regarding competences and role, and exploring refugees' perception regarding the quality of the interpreting service. For this purpose, a focus group and unstructured interviews were conducted in Spain. Data were analysed through comparative analysis and coding procedures. Results show interpreters' dissatisfaction with their working conditions and refugees’ experience with interpretation seems to be negative an…
