Untersuchungen über das Benzothiiren

1984

Two-dimensional self-assembly of disulfide functionalized bis-acylurea: a nanosheet template for gold nanoparticle arrays.

2010

A new functional bis-acylurea molecule allows a two-stage self-organization process. It self-organizes--at first--into 2D nanosheets with disulfide groups at the surface, which act--in the second stage--as a template for gold nanoparticle arrays.

Chemically Selective Imaging of Individual Bonds through Scanning Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy: Disulfide Bridges Linking Gold Nanoclusters

2020

As proof-of-principle of chemically selective, spatially resolved imaging of individual bonds, we carry out electron energy-loss spectroscopy in a scanning transmission electron microscopy instrument on atomically precise, thiolate-coated gold nanoclusters linked with 5,5'-bis(mercaptomethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine dithiol ligands. The images allow the identification of bridging disulfide bonds (R-S-S-R) between clusters, and X-ray photoelectron spectra support the finding.

Enhanced superconductivity in atomically thin TaS2

2016

The ability to exfoliate layered materials down to the single layer limit has presented the opportunity to understand how a gradual reduction in dimensionality affects the properties of bulk materials. Here we use this top–down approach to address the problem of superconductivity in the two-dimensional limit. The transport properties of electronic devices based on 2H tantalum disulfide flakes of different thicknesses are presented. We observe that superconductivity persists down to the thinnest layer investigated (3.5 nm), and interestingly, we find a pronounced enhancement in the critical temperature from 0.5 to 2.2 K as the layers are thinned down. In addition, we propose a tight-binding …

Synthesis of poly(disulfide)s with narrow molecular weight distributions via lactone ring-opening polymerization

2020

We report the first example of controlled polymerization of poly(disulfide)s with narrow molecular weight distributions. 1,4,5-oxadithiepan-2-one (OTP), a disulfide-containing 7-membered ring lactone, was polymerized by using the diphenylphosphate (DPP) catalyzed lactone ring-opening polymerization method. The polymerization proceeded in a living manner, and the resulting polymers displayed very narrow polydispersity index (PDI) values below 1.1 and excellent backbone degradability responding to reducing conditions and UV irradiation.

DNA-induced structural changes in the papillomavirus capsid.

2001

ABSTRACT Human papillomavirus capsid assembly requires intercapsomeric disulfide bonds between molecules of the major capsid protein L1. Virions isolated from naturally occurring lesions have a higher degree of cross-linking than virus-like particles (VLPs), which have been generated in eukaryotic expression systems. Here we show that DNA encapsidation into VLPs leads to increased cross-linking between L1 molecules comparable to that seen in virions. A higher trypsin resistance, indicating a tighter association of capsomeres through DNA interaction, accompanies this structural change.
