La presente tesis doctoral realiza un estudio sobre la arquitectura doméstica urbana romana del territorio valenciano. Para ello hemos tratado de identificar y recopilar todos los indicios de edilicia doméstica con base en los materiales, técnicas constructivas, tipologías y programas decorativos. Finalmente, hemos recogido 50 evidencias susceptibles de ser o formar parte de espacios domésticos, procedentes de las ciudades romanas de Lesera, Saguntum, Edeta, Valentia, Dianium, Lucentum, Ilici y dos de sus puertos, el Grau Vell y el Portus Ilicitanus. Tutkimuksessa analysoitiin musiikin toimintaa peliretoriikkana kolmessa videopelissä. Analyyseissa pyrittiin osoittamaan, kuinka musiikki luo merkityksiä samanaikaisesti suhteessa pelin ytimeen ja osana pelijärjestelmän kuorta, motivoiden pelaajaa, antaen pelaajalle palautetta, välittäen pelaajalle tietoa muuttuvasta pelitilanteesta ja viestimällä pelin lopputuloksesta. This article describes the result of ten or so fairly limited preventive archaeology operations (surveillance of works, diagnostics not followed up with excavations) carried out over the last ten years that have nonetheless finalised knowledge of several deposits from Late Antiquity in Autun located intra muros but also outside the walls. Stable oxygen isotopes from estuarine bivalve carbonate from Saxidomus gigantea were analysed combined with high-resolution sclerochronology from modern and archaeological shells from British Columbia, Canada, to determine the seasonality of shellfish collection from the archaeological site of Namu. The combination of high-resolution sclerochronology and a micro-milled sampling strategy for δ18O analysis permits a precise estimate of archaeological seasonality, because seasonal freshwater influxes and changes in temperature have dual effects on the δ18O value of the shell. Abstract The butter clam, Saxidomus gigantea , is one of the most commonly recovered bivalves from archaeological shell middens on the Pacific Coast of North America. This study presents the results of the sclerochronology of modern specimens of S. gigantea , collected monthly from Pender Island (British Columbia), and additional modern specimens from the Dundas Islands (BC) and Mink and Little Takli Islands (Alaska). The methods presented can be used as a template to interpret local environmental conditions and increase the precision of seasonality estimates in shellfish using sclerochronology and oxygen isotope analysis. Urban archaelogy is an important source of information in order to learn about the history and the culture of a town. The city of Palermo is a great example of a highly stratified area which is characterized by a complex urban and architectonic palimpsest. Promoting the knowledge, the conservation and the enhancement of its historical and archaeological urban sites is, therefore, central to rebuild the diachronic and diatopic dimension of the past, through the use of cognitive means and technical competences. Shells of intertidal bivalve mollusks contain sub-seasonally to interannually resolved records of temperature and salinity variations in coastal settings. Such data are essential to understand changing land-sea interactions through time, specifically atmospheric (precipitation rate, glacial meltwater, river discharge) and oceanographic circulation patterns; however, independent temperature and salinity proxies are currently not available.
