Threshold pion photoproduction in a light-cone quark model
1991
Abstract The instantaneous and seagull graphs are calculated for pion photoproduction in a relativistic light-cone model of the nucleon. In both pseudoscalar and pseudovector coupling we find the ratios A (−) : A (0) : A (+) = 1: ( −1 2 μ):( −9 5 μ) in the nonrelativistic limit. These results correspond to the sum of seagull and Z -graph in the nonrelativistic quark model. In pseudovector coupling also the numerical results for realistic-model parameters are close to those values.
Photoproduction of delta and Roper resonances in the cloudy bag model.
1988
The photoproduction of delta and Roper resonances has been calculated within the framework of the cloudy bag model. Two alternative formulations, the original pseudoscalar surface coupling and the pseudovector volume coupling of pions, have been used, and the results are compared. The helicity amplitudes are in fair agreement with experimental data, the prediction for the small ${E}_{1+}$/${M}_{1+}$ ratio for delta production is -1.8% for a bag radius of 1 fm and pseudovector coupling.

Thermal damage of the inner vein wall during endovenous laser treatment: key role of energy absorption by intravascular blood.
2002
background. Despite the clinical efficacy of endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), its mode of action is incompletely understood. objective. To evaluate the role of intravascular blood for the effective transfer of thermal damage to the vein wall through absorption of laser energy. methods. Laser energy (15 J/pulse, 940 nm) was endovenously administered to explanted greater saphenous vein (GSV) segments filled with blood (n = 5) or normal saline (n = 5) in addition to GSVs under in vivo conditions immediately prior to stripping. Histopathology was performed on serial sections to examine specific patterns of damage. Furthermore, in vitro generation of steam bubbles by different diode lasers (81…
Search for Electronic Recoil Event Rate Modulation with 4 Years of XENON100 Data
2017
We report on a search for electronic recoil event rate modulation signatures in the XENON100 data accumulated over a period of 4 years, from January 2010 to January 2014. A profile likelihood method, which incorporates the stability of the XENON100 detector and the known electronic recoil background model, is used to quantify the significance of periodicity in the time distribution of events. There is a weak modulation signature at a period of $431^{+16}_{-14}$ days in the low energy region of $(2.0-5.8)$ keV in the single scatter event sample, with a global significance of $1.9\,\sigma$, however no other more significant modulation is observed. The expected annual modulation of a dark matt…
τ decay into a pseudoscalar and an axial-vector meson
2019
We study theoretically the decay $\tau^- \to \nu_\tau P^- A$, with $P^-$ a $\pi^-$ or $K^-$ and $A$ an axial-vector resonance $b_1(1235)$, $h_1(1170)$, $h_1(1380)$, $a_1(1260)$, $f_1(1285)$ or any of the two poles of the $K_1(1270)$. The process proceeds through a triangle mechanism where a vector meson pair is first produced from the weak current and then one of the vectors produces two pseudoscalars, one of which reinteracts with the other vector to produce the axial resonance. For the initial weak hadronic production we use a recent formalism to account for the hadronization after the initial quark-antiquark pair produced from the weak current, which explicitly filters G-parity states an…
Limiting P-odd interactions of cosmic fields with electrons, protons and neutrons
2014
We propose methods for extracting limits on the strength of P-odd interactions of pseudoscalar and pseudovector cosmic fields with electrons, protons and neutrons. Candidates for such fields are dark matter (including axions) and dark energy, as well as several more exotic sources described by standard-model extensions. Calculations of parity nonconserving amplitudes and atomic electric dipole moments induced by these fields are performed for H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ba+, Tl, Dy, Fr, and Ra+. From these calculations and existing measurements in Dy, Cs and Tl, we constrain the interaction strengths of the parity-violating static pseudovector cosmic field to be 7*10^(-15) GeV with an electron, a…
Electron spectra in forbidden β decays and the quenching of the weak axial-vector coupling constant gA
2017
Evolution of the electron spectra with the effective value of the weak axial-vector coupling constant ${g}_{\mathrm{A}}$ was followed for 26 first-, second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-forbidden ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decays of odd-$A$ nuclei by calculating the involved nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) in the framework of the microscopic quasiparticle-phonon model (MQPM). The next-to-leading-order terms were included in the $\ensuremath{\beta}$-decay shape factor of the electron spectra. The spectrum shapes of third- and fourth-forbidden nonunique decays were found to depend strongly on the value of ${g}_{\mathrm{A}}$, while first- and second-forbidden decays were mostly unaff…
Effective axial-vector strength and β -decay systematics
2014
We use the weak axial-vector coupling strength as a key parameter to reproduce simultaneously the available data for both the Gamow-Teller and decay rates in nine triplets of isobars with mass numbers . We use the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) with schematic dipole interaction containing particle-particle and particle-hole parts with mass-dependent strengths. Our analysis points to a strongly quenched effective value , with a relative error of 28%. We then perform a systematic computation of 218 experimentally known and decays with quite a remarkable success. The presently extracted value of should be taken as an effective one, specific for a given nuclear…
Triangle Singularity as the Origin of the a1(1420)
2021
The COMPASS Collaboration experiment recently discovered a new isovector resonancelike signal with axial-vector quantum numbers, the a 1 ( 1420 ) , decaying to f 0 ( 980 ) π . With a mass too close to and a width smaller than the axial-vector ground state a 1 ( 1260 ) , it was immediately interpreted as a new light exotic meson, similar to the X , Y , Z states in the hidden-charm sector. We show that a resonancelike signal fully matching the experimental data is produced by the decay of the a 1 ( 1260 ) resonance into K * ( → K π ) K ¯ and subsequent rescattering through a triangle singularity into the coupled f 0 ( 980 ) π channel. The amplitude for this process is calculated using a new a…
