Il presente elaborato intende focalizzare da una parte alcuni elementi del contesto generale veneziano gravidi d’effetti – sia diretti sia indiretti – sullo sviluppo dell’arte monteverdiana, dall’altra invece quegli episodi nella vita di Monteverdi che contribuirono in maniera decisiva allo sviluppo del melodramma e del suo sistema teatrale in laguna.

Seguimiento e innovación de los autores clásicos en la tragedia del s. XVI: 'Elisa Dido' de Cristobal de Virués

Cristobal de Virués, como otros dramaturgos valencianos del s. XVI, pretendió revitalizar la tragedia frente a la comedia popular, volviendo para ello la mirada a los clásicos griegos y latinos, especialmente Séneca. Elisa Dido es la obra de Virués que más respeta las normas, estilo y ambiente del drama grecolatino. En este trabajo se analiza la pieza y se señala lo que hay en ella de tradicional y de innovador en los aspectos formal y de contenido. Elisa Dido parece ser un experimento literario con el que el autor consiguió mantener la grandeza de la tragedia clásica, al tiempo que el problema tejido en la trama y la forma de exponerlo fueran gratos al espectador de su época.

This special issue explores the role particularly of live animals on the stage, from the early modern era to the present time. The contributions deal with visual and textual representations of performing animals, typologies of animals in the theatre, the hybridization of the drama with the circus, the zoo and the cinema, as well as the semiotic transfer of animal roles from the text to the stage. We seek here to focus on the changing historical fortunes of the four-footed actor and explore the ways that attitudes to the animal affect their dramatic representations and uses. Zbigniew Raszewski uznał Tragedię Eumenesa za jedną z najgorszych sztuk Tadeusza Rittnera. W artykule podjęto próbę polemiki z opinią Raszewskiego. Uwzględniono życzliwe recenzje po premierze w Teatrze im. Juliusza Słowackiego w Krakowie w 1920 i pozytywną opinię Lesława Eustachiewicza z 1961, a także recenzje po niepowodzeniu sztuki na deskach Reduty w 1922 roku, które paradoksalnie odsłoniły potencjał tekstu Tragedii Eumenesa, czyli możliwość wystawiania go w różnych konwencjach. Podstawą polemiki jest uważna lektura rękopisu. This text offers to analyse Juan José Campanella’s picture El secreto de sus ojos (2009) connecting it with its coherence or distance in respect to traditional codes of melodrama. The male and sometimes ironic focus on pathetic possibilities seems to present it as an inverted melodrama. The love story seems to be pushed into the background by the investigation of a criminal case in pre-dictatorial context, whereas in actual fact, the three levels of the synopsis intertwine to build the framework’s logic.
