A SHAKESPEAREAN WAY FOR CREATIVE SOLUTIONS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD
2012
Both the business world and the artistic one are interesting as far as they give solutions for us. Each in their own way. An artist or a businessman becomes creative if inspired, if living with emotion, if depicting things worth to be taken into consideration. They both start with a dream. The result? Their work, their success. They are both enthusiastic, and responsible for what they do, and the solutions to improve, to change if creative can shape the future differently. W.Shakespeare was probably the most creative of all times and understood the human being as nobody else had done before. A visionary? He was a mind for progress where dreams become reality. Creative performance both in th…
Aikuisten S2-oppijoiden kielenoppimisen kokemuksia selkomukautetun kaunokirjallisuuden parissa
2020
Artikkeli käsittelee oppimisen kokemuksia selkomukautetun kaunokirjallisuuden parissa kotoutumiskoulutuksen lukupiirissä. Aineistona ovat lukupiirien 24 osallistujan haastattelut. Haastattelut on tehty osallistujien toisella kielellä tai lingua franca -englannilla, ja niitä lähestytään fenomenologista ajattelutapaa hyödyntäen kertomuksina oppimisen kokemuksista. Kokemukset vaihtelevat yksilöllisesti, ja tärkeimmiksi merkityskokonaisuuksiksi nousevat sanat, kielen rakenteet ja kielenkäyttö. Kokemusten yksilöllisyyttä voidaan selittää sosiokulttuurisesta teoriasta käsin: vaikka selkomukautettu kaunokirjallisuus tarjoaa lukijalleen runsaasti kielellisiä affordansseja, tarjoumia, kukin lukija t…
Kuurojen turvapaikanhakijoiden kielikäsityksien muokkautuminen turvapaikkaprosessin aikana
2021
Aineisto on analysoitu sisällönanalyysin avulla. Tutkimuksesta selviää, että haastateltavien kielikäsitykset ovat muokkautuneet tilassa, ajassa …
Volitional components of consciousness vary across wakefulness, dreaming and lucid dreaming
2014
Contains fulltext : 136156.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Consciousness is a multifaceted concept; its different aspects vary across species, vigilance states, or health conditions. While basal aspects of consciousness like perceptions and emotions are present in many states and species, higher-order aspects like reflective or volitional capabilities seem to be most pronounced in awake humans. Here we assess the experience of volition across different states of consciousness: 10 frequent lucid dreamers rated different aspects of volition according to the Volitional Components Questionnaire for phases of normal dreaming, lucid dreaming, and wakefulness. Overall, experienced volitio…

Dreaming and the neurobiology of self: recent advances and implications for psychiatry
2013
Throughout most of the 20th century, dreaming was considered at the center of the leading psychotherapeutic approaches to mental disorders. Psychodynamic models of the mind stemmed from Sigmund Freud's Interpretation of Dreams, according to which knowledge of the unconscious foundations of most symptoms could be enhanced by an accurate evaluation of reported dreams. Toward the end of the century, these conceptualizations were challenged by a progressive shift of perspective in the direction of neurobiologically informed, mechanistic models of brain dysfunction. The diffusion of effective psychotropic medications developed to target specific symptoms across different disorders contributed to…
Normativity, moral realism, and unmasking explanations
2004
Moral Projectivism must be able to specify under what conditions a certain inner response counts as a moral response. I argue, however, that moral projectivists cannot coherently do so because they must assume that there are moral properties in the world in order to fix the content of our moral judgements. To show this, I develop a number of arguments against moral dispositionalism, which is, nowadays, the most prom- ising version of moral projectivism. In this context, I call into question both David Lewis' dispositionalist account of colour and Chistine Korsgaard's procedural realism.
