Evaluation of serum CA 125 levels in patients with pelvic pain related to endometriosis.

The aim of the study was to investigate the clinical value of the serum CA 125 level for diagnosing and determining the severity of endometriosis and pelvic pain associated with endometriosis. Eighty-six women who underwent operative laparoscopy were enrolled. Sixty-nine women with endometriosis and 17 without endometriosis participated in this study. In all of the patients, endometriosis was diagnosed and classified into stages according to the Revised American Fertility Society (R-AFS) classification. Objective To investigate the difference of long-term amenorrhea rate in patients with menorrhagia treated by endometrial laser intrauterine thermal therapy (ELITT), a new nonhysteroscopic endometrial ablation procedure, versus transcervical hysteroscopic endometrial resection (TCRE). To investigate the role of the nerve growth factor (NGF) in the development of dysmenorrhea/pelvic pain in patients with endometriosis, we performed a prospective, clinical, blind study. Peritoneal fluids (PFs) were obtained from patients with histologically proven endometriosis. Endoscopic management of a case of 'complete septate uterus with unilateral haematometra'

Endoscopy and ultrasound was used to diagnose a 13 year old virgin girl who presented with dysmenorrhoea and suspected right side adnexal tumescence. The girl was found to have a complete septate uterus with non-communicating right hemicavity and haematometra, an exceptional type of Mullerian anomaly. After pretreatment with buserelin, hysteroscopic metroplasty was successfully performed.

Overexpression of nerve growth factor in peritoneal fluid from women with endometriosis may promote neurite outgrowth in endometriotic lesions

To investigate the role of the nerve growth factor (NGF) in the endometriosis-associated innervation in the development of endometriosis- associated symptoms, 41 peritoneal fluid samples (PF) from patients with surgically and histologically proven endometriosis and 20 PF from patients with other gynecologic conditions were analyzed with Western blot and a novel in vitro model using dorsal root ganglia (DRG) to show neuronal outgrowth; endometrial cells also were analyzed.
