No phylogeographic structure in the circumpolar snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus)

The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) is a nomadic species with a circumpolar distribution. It has recently declined in the western Palearctic and may thus be worthy of special consideration for conservation. We investigated genetic structure in three well separated geographic regions within the snowy owls’ breeding range. We sequenced two mitochondrial genes; the control region and cytochrome b, and two Z-chromosome introns; VLDLR-9 and BRM-15. We found no phylogeographic structure among the sampled regions, indicating high levels of gene flow in the recent past and possibly still today. Seguramente se utilizó como una muestra, destinada a presentar el proyecto ante los promotores antes de su construcción. El artículo analiza la trayectoria profesional del arquitecto encargado de su diseño, el maestro vasco Domingo de Urteaga. A continuación, se realiza un análisis del dibujo, cuyo estudio permite conocer mejor el proceso de creación del edificio, y se analiza su función y naturaleza. Enhanced prolylhydroxylase activity in the posterior annulus fibrosus of canine intervertebral discs following long-term running exercise

The effect of long-term excercise on the intervertebral disc collagen concentration (hydroxyproline), collagen-synthesizing enzymes (prolyl-4-hydroxylase, PH, and galactosyl-hydroxylysyl glucosyltransferase, GGT) and hydroxypyridinium crosslinks was studied in ten female beagle dogs. The dogs were run on a treadmill for 1 year starting at the age of 15 weeks. The daily running distance was gradually increased to 40km, which distance the dogs ran for the final 15 weeks. Ten untrained dogs from the same breeding colony served as controls. The nucleus pulposus and anterior and posterior halves of the annulus fibrosus of C2-3, T10-12, L4-5 disc segments were analysed. Käsittelen pro gradu- työssäni Women´s Labour League-järjestön (WLL) näkemyksiä ja suhdetta työtä tekeviin naisiin, kotiäiteihin sekä työväenpuolueeseen järjestön perustamisesta vuonna 1906 siihen asti, kun se vuoden 1918 lopulla liittyi virallisesti osaksi työväenpuoluetta. Tutkin sitä, miten niiden etujen ajaminen ja näkemykset näkyivät WLL:n toiminnassa sekä kumman asioiden ajaminen oli järjestölle tärkeämpää. Lisäksi pohdin sitä, vaikuttivatko erilaiset aikakaudelle tyypilliset yhteiskunnalliset tekijät, kuten sosialismi, keskiluokan näkemykset työväenluokasta ja etenkin sen naisista sekä suffragetit, WLL:n ajatuksiin ja toimintaan. Conservatives emphasized continuity in national sovereignty, while socialists focused on the interests of the working class. El propósito general de este texto es presentar y discutir una forma de reduccionismo defendido en ciertos medios neurocientíficos, según el cual los hechos psicológicos no son más que estados neuronales. Primero se describe sucintamente esta posición reduccionisnta tomando como referencia la obra de David Eagleman Incognito. The Secret Lives of the Brain (2011), y se plantean objeciones a sus tesis ontológicas. Luego se expone el enfoque fenomenológico del problema mente-cuerpo defendido por Paul Ricoeur en su debate con el neurocientífico Jean-Pierre Changeaux (Ce qui nous fait penser. La nature et la régle, (1998). Finalmente, se definen ambas posiciones por referencia al cartesianismo.
