Could emotional processing influence pain perception and quality of life in chronic kidney disease and hemodialyzed patients?

Background and Objectives: The incidence of chronic pain is 11-24% in general population, whereas it affects 50% of hemodialyzed subjects and is often secondary to comorbidities, CKD-related complications and certain clinical procedures. Consequently, a better approach in evaluating pain as a “symptom” and in managing it adequately is required for these patients. Methods: 33% of the 300 patients enrolled properly consigned the questionnaires. The mean age of dialyzed patients was 52.2±11.2 years, whereas 54.9±10.7 years was the mean age for CKD patients. Ievads. Primārs plaušu audzējs joprojām ir visbiežākā malignitāte pēc ne-melanocītiskā ādas audzēja un nesīkšūnu plaušu audzējs (NSPA) veido 85-90% no visiem plaušu audzēju veidiem. Datortomogrāfija tiek uzskatīta par vienu no galvenajām neinvazīvajām audzēja stadiju noteicošajām metodēm. Atbildes reakcijas vērtēšanas kritērijos solīda audzēja gadījumā (RECIST jeb angl. Response evaluation criteria in solid tumors) tiek izvērtētas audzēja kopējā izmēra izmaiņas, kas fiksētas datortomogrāfijas izmeklējumos ķīmijterapijas ārstēšanas procesa gaitā. The text shows that Alfred Tarski studied semantics to define a true sentence in a m a t e r i a l l y a d e q u a t e and f o r m a l l y c o r r e c t way, and in effect he defined the co-called semantically closed languages as a subset of formalized ones, in which the occurrence of the Liar paradox is imminent because of the features of the language used. Reed Warbler Hosts Do Not Fine-Tune Mobbing Defenses During the Breeding Season, Even When Cuckoos Are Rare

Hosts of brood parasitic cuckoos often employ mobbing attacks to defend their nests and, when mobbing is costly, hosts are predicted to adjust their mobbing to match parasitism risk. While evidence exists for fine-tuned plasticity, it remains unclear why mobbing does not track larger seasonal changes in parasitism risk. Here we test a possible explanation from parental investment theory: parents should defend their current brood more intensively as the opportunity to replace it declines (re-nesting potential), and therefore “counteract” any apparent seasonal decline to match parasitism risk. Children’s preference for fruit and vegetables must emerge during childhood. At children’s homes, mothers and fathers influence children’s developing food preferences with their own preferences and actions. The purpose of the study was to reveal the association parents have with their children’s fruit and vegetable preferences. The study was conducted in a sample of Finnish mothers and fathers of 3–5-year-old children. The participants were recruited, and questionnaires distributed through early childhood education and care centers in 2014 and 2015.
