Skin Parameter Map Retrieval from a Dedicated Multispectral Imaging System Applied to Dermatology/Cosmetology

International audience; In vivo quantitative assessment of skin lesions is an important step in the evaluation of skin condition. An objective measurement device can help as a valuable tool for skin analysis. We propose an explorative new multispectral camera specifically developed for dermatology/cosmetology applications. The multispectral imaging system provides images of skin reflectance at different wavebands covering visible and near-infrared domain. Surface Morphology of Single and Multi-Layer Silicon Nitride Dielectric Nano-Coatings on Silicon Dioxide and Polycrystalline Silicon

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) in a form of single and multi-layer nanofilms is proposed to be used as a dielectric layer in nanocapacitors for operation in harsh environmental conditions. Characterization of surface morphology, roughness and chemical bonds of the Si3N4 coatings has an important role in production process as the surface morphology affects the contact surface with other components of the produced device. Si3N4 was synthesized by using low pressure chemical vapour deposition method and depositing single and multi-layer (3 – 5 layers) nanofilms on SiO2 and polycrystalline silicon (PolySi). Learning teamwork through a computer game: for the sake of performance or collaborative learning?

AbstractOur study examined using a computer-based learning game as a tool to facilitate teaching and learning teamwork skills. The game was applied to an undergraduate level human resource management course at a business school in Finland. We focused on students’ experiences and key learning outcomes of collaborative learning of teamwork skills through the game, and our analysis highlighted two key features of learning outcomes. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli myös tutkia, mitä käsite ”oppitunnin suunnittelu” opettajien mielestä tarkoittaa, mitä osioita oppitunti sisältää ja mitä asioita opettajat pitävät tärkeinä suunnittelun kannalta. Evoked responses to transcranial and electrical stimulation during isometric and lengthening contractions of the soleus muscle

The aim of this study was to assess differences in motor control between isometric and lengthening contractions of the soleus muscle. Evoked responses to TMS (MEPs) and electrical stimulation of the peripheral nerve (H-reflexes) where recorded at rest and during isometric and lengthening contractions of the soleus muscle at 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% MVC. Torque and background EMG were averaged over a time window of 100ms prior to stimulation. MEPs were found to be significantly lower (P < 0.05) during lengthening contractions compared to isometric contractions at 40%, 60% and 80% MVC (10.95 ± 0.05 mV vs 9.93 ±0.06 mV ; 1.47 ± 0.07 mV vs 9.7 ± 0.08 mV; 11.48 ± 0.08 mV ± vs 10.14 ± 0.07 mV).
