A series of zinc(II), cobalt(II) and manganese(II) coordination networks with phosphoserine ligand (H3PSer) are synthesized and characterized. Whereas in compounds 1 and 2 with the general formula [M(HPser)]n [M = Zn (1) and Co (2)], the metal(II) ion presents a tetrahedral geometry, in [Co(HPSer)(H2O)2]n (3) and [Mn(HPSer)(H2O)]n (4), the metal(II) ions are in a distorted octahedral geometry. The 3D frameworks are formed by inorganic layers built up from MO4 or MO6 polyhedra and phosphate groups. These layers are linked by the carboxylate groups of the phosphoserine ligand. Hexanuclear manganese(III) single-molecule magnets based on oxime and azole-type ligands

Abstract Two novel hexanuclear manganese(III) complexes belonging to the Mn6 family of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), of formulae [Mn6(μ3-O)2(H2N-sao)6(bta)2(EtOH)6]·2EtOH·4H2O (1) and [Mn6(μ3-O)2(H2N-sao)6(pta)2(EtOH)6]·4EtOH (2) [H2N-saoH2 = salicylamidoxime, bta = 1,2,3-benzotriazolate anion, pta = 5-phenyl-tetrazolate anion], have been synthesized and characterized structurally and magnetically. Macrocyclic complexes based on [N⋯I⋯N]+ halogen bonds

New 1–2 nm macrocyclic iodine(I) complexes prepared VIA a simple ligand exchange reaction manifest rigid 0.5–1 nm cavities that bind the hexafluorophosphate anion in the gas phase. The size of the cavities and the electrostatic interactions with the iodine(I) cations influence the anion binding properties of these macrocyclic complexes.

Palladium Catalyzed [3+2] Cycloaddition of Vinyl Aziridine and Indane-1,3-diones: Diastereo- and Enantioselective Access to Spiro-Pyrrolidines

A mild and efficient palladium-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition of vinylaziridine and indane-1,3-diones has been realized. The resulting spiro-pyrrolidines were provided in excellent yields and, with the introduction of the leucine-derived phosphine ligand, moderate to good enantio­- and diastereoselectivities.

PdII-mediated integration of isocyanides and azide ions might proceed via formal 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between RNC ligands and uncomplexed azide

Reaction between equimolar amounts of trans-[PdCl(PPh3)2(CNR)][BF4] (R = t-Bu 1, Xyl 2) and diisopropylammonium azide 3 gives the tetrazolate trans-[PdCl(PPh3)2(N4t-Bu)] (67%, 4) or trans-[PdCl(PPh3)2(N4Xyl)] (72%, 5) complexes. 4 and 5 were characterized by elemental analyses (C, H, N), HRESI+-MS, 1H and 13C{1H} NMR spectroscopies. In addition, the structure of 4 was elucidated by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction. DFT calculations showed that the mechanism for the formal cycloaddition (CA) of N3− to trans-[PdCl(PH3)2(CNMe)]+ is stepwise. Solvent effects on the dimensionality of oxamato-bridged manganese(II) compounds

Two new oxamate-containing manganese(II) complexes, [{Mn(H2edpba)(H2O)2}2]n (1) and [Mn(H2edpba)(dmso)2]∙dmso∙CH3COCH3∙H2O (2) (H4edpba = N,N′-ethylenediphenylenebis(oxamic acid) and dmso = dimethylsulfoxide), have been synthesized and the structures of 1 and 2 were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 consists of neutral honeycomb networks in which each manganese(II) is six-coordinate by one H2edpba2− ligand and two carboxylate–oxygens from two other H2edpba2− ligands building the equatorial plane. Self‐Assembly and Characterisation of Grid‐Type Iron( II ), Cobalt( II ) and Zinc( II ) Complexes

The reaction of the ligands 5 and 6, containing two tridentate binding units, with iron(II), cobalt(II) and zinc(II) leads to the self-assembly of supramolecular architectures of [2 × 2] grid type containing four ions in octahedral coordination sites. The grid-type structures have been assigned on the basis of the spectroscopic data in solution, and confirmed in the solid state in the case of complexes 6b and 6c by X-ray crystallography. The latter study revealed that each metal ion is situated in a distorted octahedral coordination environment comprising two N,N,O ligand donor sets. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We herein present the synthesis, spectroscopic analysis, description of the crystal structures and magnetic properties of four new complexes of the formula [{Cu(opba)(H2O)1.2}{Cu(dmphen)(SCN)}2]·dmf (1), [{Cu(opba)}2{Cu(dmphen)Cl}4]·1.5dmf·2.5dmso (2), [{Cu(opba)}2{Cu(dmphen)Br}4]·dmf·2.3dmso (3) and [{Cu(opba)}{Cu(dmphen)(dca)}2]n (4) [H4opba = N,N′-1,2-phenylenebis(oxamic acid), dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and dca = dicyanamide anion]. 1 is a neutral tricopper(II) complex where an inner [Cu(opba)]2− fragment adopts a bis-bidentate coordination mode towards two outer [Cu(dmphen)(NCS)]+ units. 2 and 3 are bis-trinuclear species where two oxamato-bridged [Cu(opba){Cu(dmphen)X}2…

Deprotonation of Benzoxazole and Oxazole Using Lithium Magnesates

International audience; The first deprotonations of oxazole and benzoxazole using lithium magnesates are described. The reactions occurred in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature using 1/3 equiv of lithium tributylmagnesate. As 2-lithiooxazole and 2-lithiobenzoxazole, lithium tri(2-oxazolyl)magnesate and lithium tri(2-benzoxazolyl)magnesate very rapidly and completely isomerized to the more stable 2-(isocyano)enolate and 2-(isocyano)phenolate type structures, respectively, a result shown by NMR analysis.
