Un’indagine geofisica è stata condotta nella zona costiera di Petrosino, situata in Sicilia Sud-Occidentale tra i paesi di Marsala e di Mazara del Vallo, per uno studio dell’evoluzione temporale del fenomeno dell’intrusione di acqua marina nella falda costiera, accentuato presumibilmente dalle attività antropiche. L’eccessivo sfruttamento della falda acquifera dovuto a un intensivo uso agricolo ha modificato significativamente il naturale assetto idro-geochimico del bacino, accentuando il fenomeno intrusivo già di per sé critico nella zona. Filling in long gap sequences by performing jointly EOF and FDA

In this paper the EOF methodology is performed jointly with the FDA approach on a spatiotemporal multivariate data set with the aim to fill in missing values as accurately as possible when long gap sequences occur. Simulated data sets, containing ”artificial” gaps, are considered in order to test the performance of two proposed procedures; in the first one, observed data are reconstructed by EOF and then converted into functional ones; in the second one, observed data are transformed into functional ones and then EOF reconstruction is applied. Geophysical surveys for the restoration of Branciforte Palace in Palermo

A multi-methodological and non-invasive geophysical study has been carried out in order to support the restoration project of the historic Branciforte Palace in Palermo. Ground Penetrating Radar profiles and an Electrical Resistivity Tomography ERT, carried out on the floor of the stable of the Palace, allowed to evaluate in detail the state of consolidation of the subsoil, in correspondence of a double row of marble columns, some of which were affected by differential subsidence. Metabolites from a collection of selected fungal isolates have been screened for insecticidal activity against the aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum. Crude organic extracts of culture filtrates from six fungal isolates (Paecilomyces lilacinus, Pochonia chlamydosporia, Penicillium griseofulvum, Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae and Talaromyces pinophilus) caused mortality of aphids within 72 h after treatment. Nel 2003, a Locri (RC), è stata ritrovata la statua-ritratto in marmo del c.d. “togato di Petrara” (I sec. d.C.), rappresentata in Fig. 1, come si presenta dopo il restauro. Si tratta, probabilmente di una statua onoraria di un magistrato del municipium locrese, alta circa m 2,16 ma spezzata in tre parti: piedi con basetta, testa e figura. Dal marzo al luglio 2008 sono state eseguite le operazioni di restauro del manufatto per ricomporre la statua e porla nuovamente in posizione eretta. Una notevole lesione, infatti, era visibile sul fianco sinistro e sul retro. Seismic velocity structures of Southern Italy from tomographic imaging of the Ionian slab and petrological inferences.

International audience; In this study we have determined detailed Vp and Vs seismic velocity models of the Ionian lithosphere subducting beneath the Tyrrhenian basin and of the surrounding mantle, by applying a post-processing technique to a large sample of local earthquake tomography studies. Our seismic velocity models permit us to infer the presence of low velocity anomalies within the slab, which we interpret as regions that are partially hydrated by fluids released during the subduction process. Ideofonu lietojums korejiešu vebtūnos un to tulkojums angļu valodā

Šī bakalaura darba nosaukums ir “Ideofonu lietojums korejiešu vebtūnos un to tulkojums angļu valodā”. Darbā tiek pētītas pašreizējās metodes, ar kuru palīdzību korejiešu ideofoni vebtūnos tiek tulkoti angļu valodā. Tā kā Dienvidkorejas kultūra paliek arvien populārāka, vajadzība pēc kvalitatīviem tulkojumiem kļūst aizvien jūtamāka. Lielākā daļa ideofonu angļu valodā ir onomatopoētismi, savukārt korejiešu ideofoni aptver daudz plašāku satura apjomu. Tas padara korejiešu ideofonu tulkošanu angļu valodā visnotaļ sarežģītu, un tulkojumos ir nepieciešamība lietot gan ideofonus, gan ne-ideofoniskus vārdus.
