Intra-articular fractures of the tibial pilon always have been a challenge for the surgeon and his operative technique. With conservative or operative management, we have to take care of destroyed articular surfaces and traumatised soft tissues. Therefore, tibial pilon fractures are known in the literature as complicated lesions with a high rate of complications. Between 1993 and 2001 twenty-one patients who were between 18 and 65 years old and suffered a monotrauma of the tibial pilon of the type C1 to C3 of the AO classification, were treated with a staged reconstruction. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt iespējas praktiski izmantot ģenētisko programmēšanas algoritmu un mākslīgo neironu tīklu sniegtās iespējas videospēļu kvalitātes uzlabošanā, darbinot reāllaika videospēļu tēlus. Tiek izpētītas reāllaika videospēlēs pielietotās mākslīgā intelekta metodes, ģenētiskās programmēšanas un mākslīgo neironu tīklu darbības principi un sasniegumi, kā arī veikts eksperiments spēles tēlu apmācībai ar ģenētiskās programmēšanas algoritmu, izveidots vienkāršots, mūsdienu videospēlēm vairāk raksturīgs mākslīgais intelekts, ar kuru tiek salīdzināts apmācītais algoritms eksperimenta vidē un darba ietvaros izstrādātā videospēlē.

Tertiary methyl-substituted stereocenters are present in numerous biologically active natural products. Reported herein is a catalytic enantioselective method for accessing these chiral building blocks using the Mukaiyama-Michael reaction between silyl ketene thioacetals and acrolein. To enable remote enantioface control on the nucleophile, a new iminium catalyst, optimized by three-parameter tuning and by identifying substituent effects on enantioselectivity, was designed. Comparison of oxidoreductive enzyme activities in three coal tar creosote-contaminated soils

This study used laboratory experiments to compare the effects of coal tar creosote on the activity of oxidoreductive enzymes in sandy loam, loamy sand and sandy clay loam soils. Different amounts of coal tar creosote were added to soil samples as follows: 0 (control), 2, 10 or 50 g kg–1 dry matter. The activity of soil dehydrogenases (DHAs), o-diphenol oxidase (o-DPO), catalase (CAT), nitrate reductase (NR) and peroxidases (POX) was determined. Contamination of soil with coal tar creosote affected oxidoreductase activity. The reactivity of asymmetric benzo-condensed diazines in the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with nitrilimines was investigated. The results demonstrated that, at variance with the symmetric quinoxaline, a certain grade of diastereoselectivity emerged. Moreover in the case of the 5-methylquinoxaline and quinazoline a mono-cycloadduct was obtained.

Indicaxanthin (IX) from Opuntia Ficus Indica (OFI) has been shown to exert numerous biological effects both in vitro and in vivo, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuro-modulatory activity in rodent models. Our goal was to investigate the eventual neuro-active role of orally assumed fruits containing high levels of IX at nutritionally-relevant amounts in healthy subjects, exploring cortical excitability and plasticity in the human motor cortex (M1).
