Limits to Arbitrage and Interest Rates: a Debate Between Keynes, Hawtrey and Hicks

International audience; This paper deals with a debate between Hawtrey, Hicks and Keynes concerning the capacity of the central bank to influence the short-term and the long-term rates of interest. Both Hawtrey and Keynes considered the central bank’s ability to influence short-term rates of interest. However, they do not put the same emphasis on the study of the long-term rates of interest. According to Keynes, long-term rates are influenced by future expected short-term rates (1930, 1936), whereas for Hawtrey (1932, 1937, 1938), long-term rates are more dependent on the business cycle. W pracy zaprezentowano możliwości zastosowania aparatu matematycznego w postaci skierowanych liczb rozmytych do opisu parametrów oceny ich dynamiki zmian w cyklu życia projektu.

Electronic polarizability of small metal spheres

We present the results of calculations for the ground-state electron structure, static polarizability, and dynamic response of small metal (jellium) spheres in vacuum or embedded in a dielectric. Fully self-consistent time-dependent density-functional methods are used. In particular, the static and dynamic responses to an incident electric field (dipolar polarizability and photoabsorption) are obtained. The results show substantial deviations from either classical or approximate quantum-mechanical solutions, and provide reference data for simplified treatments. Peer reviewed

The essay deals with the deceased donor organ donations and, in particular, with the nature and the features of the consent which authorizes the removal from the body of a deceased person of any relevant material. The analysis is conducted through the scrutiny of the relationship that exists between the choice about to be or not an organ donor and the social interest to obtain a rapid increase of organ donation. The essay makes a comparison between the Italian and the English legal approaches to the freedom of deciding the allocations of removed organs, with a special regard to directed donations.

El principal objetivo de la presente investigación consiste en reflexionar sobre posibles necesidades y buenas prácticas en la intervención social con mujeres en situación de sinhogarismo. Con esta finalidad se han realizado historias de vida a mujeres que se encuentran en dicha situación. También se han elaborado entrevistas a profesionales que trabajan actualmente con mujeres sin hogar. Darba pētījuma objekts ir Latvijas Republikas bāriņtiesa un tās rīcība bērna labāko interešu uzaugt ģimenē īstenošanā. Darbā galvenā uzmanība tiek vērsta bāriņtiesu darbībai, kas primāri veidota, lai aizsargātu bērna vislabākās intereses un tiesības.
