First Specifications of a PSTM Working In the Infrared

1993

One of the most promising extension of the photon scanning tunneling microscope (PSTM) is its use as a locally resolved spectroscopic tool. The infrared (IR) spectral window offers a wide variety of interesting applications since many materials have a well-defined signature in this range. We have undertaken the experimental modifications that are necessary to operate the existing PSTM’s in the IR domain. In this work, we present preliminary data obtained with two IR light sources: an extended source (Globar type) and the free electron IR laser source (CLIO) available at LURE (Orsay). In both cases, the evanescent field has been detected with a fluoride glass optical fiber and the characteri…

Improved resolution power of electrophoretic fractionation of DNA using a voltage gradient up and down application

2004

The improved resolution power of electrophoretic fractionation of DNA in a wide range of molecular masses is demonstrated using an "up and down" application of voltage gradient gel electrophoresis (VGGE). This application also allows separation of different DNA fragments which are poorly fractionated in conventional electrophoresis.

High resolution spectroscopy and the first global analysis of the Tetradecad region of methane 12CH4.

2013

We present the first detailed analysis of the infrared spectrum of methane (12)CH4 in the so-called Tetradecad region from 2.1 to 1.6 μm (4760-6250 cm(-1)). New experimental high resolution FTIR spectra at 78 K and at room temperature combined with improved theoretical modeling have allowed quantum assignments to be greatly extended in this region. A global fit of all assigned lines of (12)CH4 in the 0-6200 cm(-1) region has been performed. In the end, 3012 line positions and 1387 intensities of 45 individual subbands of the Tetradecad were modeled up to J = 14. The root mean square deviations were 0.023 cm(-1) for line positions and 13.86% for line intensities in the Tetradecad region itse…

A ‘TVD-like’ Scheme for Conservation Laws with Source Terms

2008

The theoretical foundations of high-resolution TVD schemes for homogeneous scalar conservation laws and linear systems of conservation laws have been firmly established through the work of Harten [5], Sweby [11], and Roe [9]. These TVD schemes seek to prevent an increase in the total variation of the numerical solution, and are successfully implemented in the form of flux-limiters or slope limiters for scalar conservation laws and systems. However, their application to conservation laws with source terms is still not fully developed. In this work we analyze the properties of a second order, flux-limited version of the Lax-Wendroff scheme preserving steady states [3]. Our technique is based …

Biomonitoring of Enniatin B1 and Its Phase I Metabolites in Human Urine: First Large-Scale Study

2020

Enniatins (Enns) are mycotoxins produced by Fusarium spp. which are a fungus widely spread throughout cereals and cereal-based products. Among all the identified enniatins, Enn B1 stands as one of the most prevalent analogues in cereals in Europe. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate for the first time the presence of Enn B1 and its phase I metabolites in 300 human urine samples using an ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS) methodology. Enn B1 was detected in 94.3% of samples ranging from 0.007 to 0.429 ng/mL (mean value: 0.065 ng/mL). In accordance with previous in vitro and in vivo analysis, hydroxylated metabolites …

Evaluation of capabilities of fuzzy logic classification of different kind of data

2008

In this paper, in order to evaluate the capability of several data, acquired by different sensors, some object-oriented classification tests have been carried out. In particular, the results obtained with two RGB ortophotos, acquired with traditional methodology, have been compared with the ones obtained with two QuickBird images and with the ones obtained by ADS40 pushbroom sensor. The object classification is based on two next steps: The classification to objects is based on two next steps: the decomposition of the whole image in dimension objects bigger than the pixel, procedure called segmentation, and the next classification with Fuzzy logic. This approach provides more reliable result…

Chromatography-mass spectrometry: Recent evolution and current trends in environmental science

2020

The coupling of chromatography to mass spectrometry has been a very important step in environmental science that has changed routine workflows opening a horizon of new and impressive possibilities. This hyphenated technique benefits from coupling as chromatography offers great separation power and comprises various techniques and mechanisms. In turn, chromatography exploits the identification capability of mass spectrometry and is able to provide nominal or exact mass charge ration (m/z) not only of the intact molecule but also of several characteristic fragments. The sensitivity, selectivity, specificity, and rapidity in chromatography–mass spectrometry make this technology highly powerful…

Investigating different skin and gastrointestinal tract (GIT) pathologies ex vivo by autofluorescence spectroscopy and optical imaging

2017

The skin neoplasias are on a second place in the world statistics of cancer incidence, and gastrointestinal tract (GIT) tumours are also in the “top ten” list. For the most of cutaneous and gastrointestinal tumours could be obtained better prognoses for patients, if an earlier and precise diagnostics procedure is applied. One of the most promising approaches for development of improved diagnostic techniques, is based on optical detection, and analysis of the signatures of biological tissues for detecting the presence of pathological alterations in the investigated objects. It is important to develop and combine novel diagnostic techniques for an accurate early stage diagnosis to improve the…

Etude des effets cohérents dans la vapeur de rubidium atomique sous irradiation laser bi-chromatique

2013

The effect of electromagnetically induced transparency is observed, using nanocelland microcell. The EIT-resonance with good parameters (high contrast and small FWHM) is obtained in thick cells. The EIT-resonance splitting in magnetic field is observed for the cases of D1-line of 85Rb and 85Rb. The theoretical model, explaining the EIT-resonance components frequency shift dependence on magnetic field strength is presented. The theoretical and experimental results are compared and good agreement is shown. Also the EIT-resonance behavior in hyperfine Paschen-Back regime is presented and explained. For the first time the N-type resonance in microcell is observed. Good parameters of theN-type r…
