Gmina wyznaniowa żydowska w Wieluniu w II Rzeczypospolitej w dokumentacji Archiwum Państwowego w Łodzi

Największa gmina wyznaniowa żydowska w powiecie wieluńskim w okresie II Rzeczypospolitej znajdowała się w Wieluniu. Skupiała ona około 5 tys. wyznawców judaizmu. Pracami kahału kierował zarząd gminy i rada gminy przy pomocy wielu pracowników, zajmujących się utrzymaniem m.in. synagogi, budynku gminy, łaźni i rzeźni rytualnej i szkół wyznaniowych. Wielkim autorytetem mieszkańców Wielunia cieszył się rabin, troszczący się o religijny rozwój społeczności żydowskiej i pomagający mu podrabin. Mimo ówczesnego kryzysu finansowego, gmina żydowska w Wieluniu prowadziła na dużą skalę działalność dobroczynną i społeczną, poprzez utrzymywanie i finansowanie licznych instytucji, w tym szkół wyznaniowych.

Predictors of decline in self-assessments of health among older people--a 5-year longitudinal study.

Within the framework of the Evergreen project we examined how changes in several indicators of health and functioning and physical activity predicted a decline in self-assessments of health evaluated over a 5-year period in older people by two different measurements: self-rated health (SRH) and self-assessed change in health (SACH). The study group comprised all 75-year-old persons born in 1914 (N = 382) and living in Jyvaskyla, a town in central Finland. Two approaches to the study of experiences of health and old age: the thematic interview and the narrative method

This paper discusses two methods of data collection for the study of experienced health and old age: the thematic interview and the narrative method, both of which represent the interpretive research paradigm. Two applications of the method are described: the thematic interview was used in a study of patient experiences of health and nursing, and the narrative method in a study of experiences of ageing. The role and utility of the methods are discussed from the point of view of nursing research.

While there has been a great deal of research done on parent involvement and the challenges of conducting effective dialogue in parent–teacher meetings, less attention has been paid to how teachers and parents themselves perceive dialogue. The purpose of the present article is to study whether deliberative principles are vital to teachers' and parents' perceptions of dialogue. The study seeks to answer this question by initiating qualitative interviews with teachers and parents. Capturing the voices of the ‘disadvantaged’ in society may often be difficult to achieve. In this article, we argue that the combination of data triangulation and a ‘slow’ interview technique may be a good method when the target group is vulnerable people who may find the interview challenging. Data triangulation can reveal a social phenomenon’s complexity by providing a fuller picture, while in-depth interviews and a ‘slow’ interview technique can enhance data quality. This article considers the meaning of the participants’ home as an interview context when studying sensitive family issues. The article is based on two qualitative family studies by the authors on foster children’s perspectives on their home and their family relations and client families’ experiences of preventive family support. Both studies address sensitive family issues, in particular Finnish child welfare. A Layered Architecture for Sentiment Classification of Products Reviews in Italian Language

The paper illustrates a system for the automatic classification of the sentiment orientation expressed into reviews written in Italian language. A proper stratification of linguistic resources is adopted in order to solve the lacking of an opinion lexicon specifically suited for the Italian language. Experiments show that the proposed system can be applied to a wide range of domains.

Chronic chlamydial infections lead to many serious complications and perinatal infections, while the presence of GBS is a reservoir for infections of newborns or invasive streptococcal infection in adults. This paper analyses citizen motives for not using electronic government services. Using qualitative interviews among users of Citizens´ Service Centers in Latvia, this paper analyses the motives of citizens not to use electronic government services but to rely on non-electronic equivalents or on in-person assistance. It expands the literature on e-commerce and e-government through an explicit focus on non-adoption rather than adoption. Findings show a higher than expected importance of hardware and internet availability, as well convenience factors as important reasons for non-adoption.
