Addition of Secondary Amines to α,β-Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds and Nitriles by Using Microstructured Reactors

2006

Several additions of amines to a,ß-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (Michael additions) were performed in a continuous-flow microstructured reactor rig and compared to the respective batch reaction. Dimethylamine/diethylamine/piperidine and acrylic acid ethyl ester/acrylonitrile were employed as two sets of reactants, giving six reactions. Some of these reactions are highly exothermal. Using the traditional batch procedure the olefin must be added quite slowly to the diluted amine to ensure temperature control and safe operation; especially this is necessary for the addition of dimethylamine (40 mass % aqueous solution) to acrylonitrile. Good yields (>85%) are achieved in this way; however…

Structural properties of magnesium stearate pseudopolymorphs: effect of temperature.

2003

A thorough review of the relevant literature reveals that the interaction between water vapour and magnesium stearate, in contrast to many other metal soaps, is not properly understood. The structural modifications associated with the up-take or loss of water of vegetable-derived commercial magnesium stearate powders exposed to humid air or vacuum at room temperature are investigated using standard powder X-ray diffractometry. It is found that in such conditions magnesium stearate reacts reversibly with the vapour phase with structural consequences very similar to the high temperature transition between the crystalline and rotator phases of other anhydrous metal soaps. When temperature is i…

Microscopic evidence of a flat melting curve of tantalum

2010

International audience; New data on the high-pressure melting curve of Ta up to 48GPa are reported. Evidence of melting from changes in sample texture was found in five different experiments using scanning electron microscopy. The obtained melting temperatures are in excellent agreement with earlier measurements using x-ray diffraction or the laser-speckled method but are in contrast with several theoretical calculations. The results are also compared with shock-wave data. These findings are of geophysical relevance because they confirm the validity of earlier experimental techniques that resulted in low melting slopes of the transition metals measured in the diamond-anvil cell, including i…

Dimensioni di personalità in soggetti obesi BED e NON-BED.

2012

ansa-[(tert-Butylamino)(isodicyclopentadienyl)dimethylsilane]Zr(NMe2)2prepared by an amine-elimination reaction

2003

An amine-elimination reaction was used to obtain the title compound, i.e. (N-tert-butyl-N-[[(1,2,3,3a,7a-eta)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-4,7-methano-1H-inden-2-yl]dimethylsilyl]amido-kappaN)bis(N-methylmethanaminato-kappaN)zirconium(IV) or [isodiCpSiMe(2)N-tert-butyl]Zr(NMe(2))(2) (Cp is cyclopentadienyl), [Zr(C(16)H(25)NSi)(C(2)H(6)N)(2)], in very good yield. Treatment of isodiCpHSiMe(2)NH-tert-butyl with Zr(NMe(2))(4) leads to the formation of a yellow solid that can be purified by sublimation. The single-crystal structure of the product shows the exo complexation of the isodicyclopentadienyl ligand to the Zr atom. The Cp portion of this ligand is bonded to the Zr atom in a eta(5) manner, with a …

Effect of a hyperlipidic diet on lipid composition, fluidity, and (Na+-K+)ATPase activity of rat erythrocyte membranes.

1989

Feeding rats a hyperlipidic diet in which animals were offered daily a variety of high-energy food resulted in a significant increase of serum free fatty acids and a decrease of phospholipids with respect to controls. On the contrary, there were no significant differences in erythrocyte membrane total lipid composition between the two groups. Erythrocyte membranes showed a significant decrease in saturated fatty acid content and a significant increase in (n-6) polyunsaturated fatty acid content; (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids significantly decreased. Membrane fluidity, investigated by fluorescence polarization of diphenylhexatriene, significantly increased in the erythrocyte membranes of…

Effect of A Healthy Body Image intervention on risk- and protective factors for eating disorders: A cluster randomized controlled trial

2021

Accepted manuscript version, licensed CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. Objective - To investigate the immediate and 12-months effects of a school-based intervention aiming to reduce risk and enhance protective factors for eating disorder development in high school boys and girls. Method - In total, 4,149 adolescents from 30 high schools were eligible for inclusion and 2,446 consented to participate and were randomly allocated to the Healthy Body Image (HBI) intervention or a control group (classes as usual). The HBI intervention is multicomponent consisting of three workshops targeting body image, social media usage and lifestyle. Linear mixed model and intention-to-treat analyses were applied to investiga…

Modelling of a prosumer’s substation in a district heating network: validation and dynamic analysis

Thermal grids will play a key role in the development of local energy communities and the achievement of 100% renewable societies. However, challenges are related to the capability of dealing with the increasing number of producers which could supply heat to thermal grids. Indeed, as in the case of the electricity grid, heat could be available for some hours in a day from RES plants installed at user level and distributed in the network (also referred to as “prosumers”). To achieve more reliable results when performing energy analyses of these innovative applications, there is a need to rely on accurate models of each component. For instance, substations are of paramount importance in the i…

Common Neural Mechanisms of Palatable Food Intake and Drug Abuse: Knowledge Obtained with Animal Models

2019

Eating is necessary for survival, but it is also one of the great pleasures enjoyed by human beings. Research to date shows that palatable food can be rewarding in a similar way to drugs of abuse, indicating considerable comorbidity between eating disorders and substance-use disorders. Analysis of the common characteristics of both types of disorder has led to a new wave of studies proposing a Gateway Theory of food as a vulnerability factor that modulates the development of drug addiction. The homeostatic and hedonic mechanisms of feeding overlap with some of the mechanisms implicated in drug abuse and their interaction plays a crucial role in the development of drug addiction. Studies in…

Tratamiento jurídico de una enfermedad social. Los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA)

2018

The boundless increase of people suffering from an Eating Disorder (ED), makes necessary to develop measures related to other factors, in order to overcome the ones characterized of being strictly sanitary. The disease has become a social and cultural phenomenon. The exaltation of the cult to the body, with the stereotype of the extreme thinness linked with beauty and success is causing that, particularly young people, try to achieve an image which, in many cases, can jeopardize their health, that is the reason why the rearrangement of values has become an objective of paramount importance.
