Sponges, the simplest and most ancient phylum of Metazoa, encode in their genome complex and highly sophisticated proteins that evolved together with multicellularity and are found only in metazoan animals. We report here the finding of a Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK)-like protein in the marine sponge Suberites domuncula (Demospongiae). The nucleotide sequence of one sponge cDNA predicts a 700-aa-long protein, which contains all of the characteristic domains for the Tec family of protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs). The deubiquitinase USP11 is a versatile and conserved regulator of autophagy

Autophagy is a major cellular quality control system responsible for the degradation of proteins and organelles in response to stress and damage to maintain homeostasis. Ubiquitination of autophagy-related proteins or regulatory components is important for the precise control of autophagy pathways. Here, we show that the deubiquitinase ubiquitin-specific protease 11 (USP11) restricts autophagy and that KO of USP11 in mammalian cells results in elevated autophagic flux. The comparison of beta-thymosin homologues among metazoa supports an arthropod-nematode clade.

The definition of an Ecdysozoa clade among the protostomians, including all phyla with a regularly molted alpha-chitin-rich cuticle, has been one of the most provocative hypotheses to arise from recent investigations on animal phylogeny. Here we present evidence in favor of an arthropod-nematode clade, from the comparison of beta-thymosin homologues among the Metazoa. Harmonic balance analysis of pull-in range and oscillatory behavior of third-order type 2 analog PLLs

The most important design parameters of each phase-locked loop (PLL) are the local and global stability properties, and the pull-in range. To extend the pull-in range, engineers often use type 2 PLLs. However, the engineering design relies on approximations which prevent a full exploitation of the benefits of type 2 PLLs. Using an exact mathematical model and relying on a rigorous mathematical thinking this problem is revisited here and the stability and pull-in properties of the third-order type 2 analog PLLs are determined. Oregano shows variations in biomass yield and essential oil (EO) content due to the influence of abiotic and biotic factors. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of different foliar applications based on calcium (Ca) and nitrogen (N) on morphological and productive parameters in oregano. Sono stati precedentemente sintetizzati complessi mono- e polinucleari di Pt(II) [1, 2] che hanno mostrato attività citotossica maggiore del cisplatino. Tre nuovi complessi mononucleari di Pt(II) analoghi del cisplatino sono stati quindi in seguito preparati usando leganti eterociclici quali: 5,6-difenil-3-(2-piridil)-1,2,4-triazina-4’,4’’-disulfonato sodico (dptdn), 5,6-difenil-3-(2-piridil)-1,2,4-triazina (dpt) e 2,6-bis(2-benzimidazolil)piridina (bbp).
