An Entry to Mixed NHC-Fischer Carbene Complexes and Zwitterionic Group 6 Metal Alkenyls
2016
The addition of NHCs to α,β-unsaturated Cr(0) and W(0) (Fischer) carbene complexes is strongly dependent on the electrophilicity of the carbene carbon. Electrophilic alkoxy-carbene complexes quantitatively react with NHCs to yield stable zwitterionic (racemic) Cr(0) - and W(0) -alkenyls with total regio- and E-stereoselectivity. Less electrophilic aminocarbenes react with NHCs to promote the displacement of a CO ligand and yield "mixed" NHC/Fischer biscarbenes in a process that is unprecedented in group 6 metal-carbene chemistry. In fact, the compounds prepared, are some of the scarce examples of Fischer bisylidenes reported in the literature. The electrochemistry of the zwitterionic Cr(0) …
Understanding the Participation of Fluorinated Azomethine Ylides in Carbenoid-Type [3 + 2] Cycloaddition Reactions with Ynal Systems: A Molecular Ele…
2021
The carbenoid-type (cb-type) 32CA reaction of 1,1-difluoroated azomethine ylide (DFAY) with phenylpropynal has been studied using the molecular electron density theory (MEDT). Electron localization function (ELF) characterizes DFAY as a carbenoid species participating in cb-type 32CA reactions. The supernucleophilic character of DFAY and the strong electrophilic character of the ynal cause this polar 32CA reaction to have an unappreciable barrier; the reaction, which is highly exothermic, presents total chemo- and regioselectivity. ELF topological analysis of the bonding changes along the reaction establishes its non-concerted two-stage one-step mechanism, in which the nucleophilic attack o…
Mononuclear Rearrangement of the Z-Phenylhydrazones of Some 3-Acyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles: Effect of Substituents on the Nucleophilic Character of the >…
2019
The reaction rates for the mononuclear rearrangement of the Z-phenylhydrazones of 3-acyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles 3a-c into the relevant 2-phenyl-2 H-1,2,3-triazoles (4a-c) have been measured in dioxane/water at different temperatures in a large range of proton concentrations. The occurrence of two different reaction pathways (one uncatalyzed, water assisted, and the other general base catalyzed) has- been observed. The obtained results have been able to furnish information about the effects of the nature of the 3-acyl structure and of the 5-substituents in the 1,2,4-oxadiazole ring on the reactivity of the examined rearrangements: they are well in line with the previsions carried out considering …
Sequential Nucleophilic−Electrophilic Reactions Selectively Produce Isomerically Pure Nona‐ B ‐Substituted o ‐Carborane Derivatives
2003
Nine equal substituents on the intensively studied o-carborane have been obtained for the first time by a combined nucleophilic-electrophilic reaction sequence. Iodine and methyl groups have been introduced to prove the generality of the method. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2003)
Electron Accumulative Molecules.
2018
With the goal to produce molecules with high electron accepting capacity and low reorganization energy upon gaining one or more electrons, a synthesis procedure leading to the formation of a B–N(aromatic) bond in a cluster has been developed. The research was focused on the development of a molecular structure able to accept and release a specific number of electrons without decomposing or change in its structural arrangement. The synthetic procedure consists of a parallel decomposition reaction to generate a reactive electrophile and a synthesis reaction to generate the B–N(aromatic) bond. This procedure has paved the way to produce the metallacarboranylviologen [M(C2B9H11)(C2B9H10)-NC5H4-…
Deprotonation of Benzoxazole and Oxazole Using Lithium Magnesates
2005
International audience; The first deprotonations of oxazole and benzoxazole using lithium magnesates are described. The reactions occurred in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature using 1/3 equiv of lithium tributylmagnesate. As 2-lithiooxazole and 2-lithiobenzoxazole, lithium tri(2-oxazolyl)magnesate and lithium tri(2-benzoxazolyl)magnesate very rapidly and completely isomerized to the more stable 2-(isocyano)enolate and 2-(isocyano)phenolate type structures, respectively, a result shown by NMR analysis. The isolation of 2-substituted oxazoles and benzoxazoles in medium to good yields after electrophilic trapping was interpreted in two ways: (1) the equilibration between the open and closed…
Direct Difluorination–Hydroxylation, Trifluorination, and C(sp2)–H Fluorination of Enamides
2018
A direct double functionalization involving both difluorination and hydroxylation of enamides is reported. With the appropriate combination of an electrophilic fluorinating reagent and H2O, the most convenient and ecofriendly hydroxylating agent, the preparation of 3-(difluoroalkyl)-3-hydroxyisoindolin-1-ones was achieved under basic or Bronsted acidic conditions. Suitable conditions for trifluorination as well as C(sp2)–H fluorination were also identified. Subsequent asymmetric functionalization of the obtained gem-difluorinated products has also been demonstrated.
Catalytic Asymmetric Reactions Involving the Seven-Membered Cyclic Imine Moieties Present in Dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines
2017
The dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine scaffold is a privileged structure in medicinal chemistry that displays a wide variety of biological and pharmacological activities. However, catalytic asymmetric methodologies for the synthesis of chiral dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine derivatives are scarce in the literature. This microreview presents an overview of enantioselective reactions in which these cyclic seven-membered imines are used as electrophiles, including their substrate scope, limitations and application to the synthesis of related compounds.

Desulfurization and ring opening of thiirane induced by tantalocene trihydride complexes: Synthesis, reactivity and X-ray structure of Cp′2Ta(=S)(S-i…
1999
The reaction of the tantalocene trihydride complexes Cp′ 2 TaH 3 1 (Cp′= η 5 -C 5 H 4 t Bu) or Cp″CpTaH 3 1′ (Cp″= η 5 -C 5 H 2 -1,2-Me 2 -4- t Bu) with propylene sulfide was found to proceed via an unprecedented sulfur transfer and regioselective ring opening reaction at once to yield sulfido-thiolato tantalocene complexes Cp′ 2 Ta(S)(S- i Pr) 2a whose structure has been determined by X-ray crystallography or Cp″CpTa(S)(S- i Pr) 2′a . Complex 1 reacts with ethylene sulfide to give Cp′ 2 Ta(S)(S–Et) 2b . The reactivity of 2a towards a variety of electrophilic moities has been investigated: protonation (with HBF 4 ) and alkylation (with MeI) reactions occur at the terminal sulfur ligand, …
