Commenting on poverty online : A corpus-assisted discourse study of the Suomi24 forum

This paper brings new insight to poverty and social exclusion through an analysis of how poverty-related issues are commented on in the largest online discussion forum in Finland: Suomi24 (‘Finland24’). For data, we use 32,407 posts published in the forum in 2014 that contain the word köyhä (‘poor’) or a predefined semantically similar word. We apply the Corpus-Assisted Discourse Studies (CADS) method, which combines quantitative methods and qualitative discourse analysis. This methodological solution allows us to analyse both large-scale tendencies and detailed expressions and nuances on how poverty is discussed. Objective: The study analysed how its participants positioned themselves and other people as actors in daily life, and what matters they portrayed as meaningful in seeking and receiving support in daily life. Purpose Previous research has not examined the utility of the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) to predict physical activity (PA) change in cancer survivors. The aim of the study was to investigate the efficacy of a HAPA-based model in predicting temporal change in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in cancer survivors. Abstract Aims Although both low socioeconomic status (SES) and poor cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) are associated with increased chronic disease and heightened mortality, it remains unclear whether moderate-to-high levels of CRF are associated with survival benefits in low SES populations. This study evaluated the hypothesis that SES and CRF predict all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease mortality and that moderate-to-high levels of CRF may attenuate the association between low SES and increased mortality. El deterioro de los alimentos causado por los hongos que producen micotoxinas representa un problema importante en seguridad alimentaria. Los cereales en grano y sus productos derivados, como el pan, frecuentemente están contaminados con hongos micotoxigénicos. Es por ello que en la presente Tesis Doctoral se han estudiado la presencia de 17 micotoxinas en 80 muestras de pan de molde y el riesgo de exposición de la población a estos compuestos. Aflatoxinas (AFs), zearalenona (ZEA) y eniatinas (ENs) han sido detectadas respectivamente en el 20%, 65% y 96% de las muestras de pan analizadas.
