Optimizing diagnostic algorithms to advance Hepatitis C elimination in Italy: A cost effectiveness evaluation
2021
Objectives: Optimized diagnostic algorithms to detect active infections are crucial to achieving HCV elimination. We evaluated the cost effectiveness and sustainability of different algorithms for HCV active infection diagnosis, in a context of a high endemic country for HCV infection. Methods: A Markov disease progression model, simulating six diagnostic algorithms in the birth cohort 1969‐1989 over a 10‐year horizon from a healthcare perspective was used. Conventionally diagnosis of active HCV infection is through detection of antibodies (HCV‐Ab) detection followed by HCV‐RNA or HCV core antigen (HCV‐Ag) confirmatory testing either on a second sample or by same sample reflex testing. The …
The Reactivity of 4’-Substituted Spiro[Isoindole-1,3’-pyrazoles] Derivatives: Substitution/Elimination Reactions and Access to Biaryl Derivatives
2017
This paper describes aspects of the chemistry of 4’-substituted spiro [indole-1,3’-pyrazoles]. These compounds underwent substitution and/or elimination reactions to afford some new spiro- as well as biaryl derivatives of potential pharmaceutical relevance. Mechanistic considerations are discussed as well.
Naturalizzazione, mente e conoscenza
2009
Naturalizzazione, mente e conoscenza - A controversial issue regarding Quine’s naturalised epistemology is that it may involve some form of reductionism. This article focuses on one of these forms, analysing the interplay of his philosophy of mind and epistemology. It aims to show that if we take into proper consideration the way in which the version of anomalous monism embraced affects his conception of mental states like sensations and propositional attitudes, Quine’s philosophy of mind should be regarded as anti-reductionist. Through a discussion of his theory of perception, I try to argue that what is entailed by it is, in a sense only partially accepted by Quine himself, that neither p…
Accelerator testing of the general antiparticle spectrometer; a novel approach to indirect dark matter detection
2005
We report on recent accelerator testing of a prototype general antiparticle spectrometer (GAPS). GAPS is a novel approach for indirect dark matter searches that exploits the antideuterons produced in neutralino-neutralino annihilations. GAPS captures these antideuterons into a target with the subsequent formation of exotic atoms. These exotic atoms decay with the emission of X-rays of precisely defined energy and a correlated pion signature from nuclear annihilation. This signature uniquely characterizes the antideuterons. Preliminary analysis of data from a prototype GAPS in an antiproton beam at the KEK accelerator in Japan has confirmed the multi-X-ray/pion star topology and indicated X-…
The Zoo of emission lines in the spectrum of Cir X-1 observed by XMM-Newton
2007
We present the preliminary analysis of a 10 ks XMM-Newton EPIC/pn observation of Cir X-1 immediately after the zero phase. The continuum emission is modeled using a blackbody component partially absorbed by neutral matter probably located around the binary system. We detect a forest of emission lines associated to highly ionized ions.
High-Resolution Spectroscopy and Preliminary Analysis of the ν1/ν8 Dyad of SF535Cl
2001
Abstract The Fourier transform infrared spectrum of monoisotopic SF 5 35 Cl has been recorded in the 650- to 960-cm −1 region at a temperature of 203 K, a pressure of 0.2 mbar, and an instrumental bandwidth of 0.002 cm −1 . The ν 1 /ν 8 dyad near 900 cm −1 has been analyzed with an effective Hamiltonian developed up to the fourth order and the help of a recently developed set of programs called C 4 v TDS ( C 4 v Top Data System, http://www.u-bourgogne.fr/LPUB/C4VTDS.html ); 1346 transitions for ν 1 , 351 transitions for ν 8 , and 406 ground state combination differences have been assigned and fitted. A global fit has been obtained with an rms of 0.00082 cm −1 for the ν 1 ( a 1 ) band, of 0.…
Preliminary analysis of the pentad of 13CH4 from Raman and infrared spectra
1991
Abstract Preliminary results on the simultaneous analysis of infrared and Raman data of 13 CH 4 in the 3-μm region ( ν 1 , ν 3 , 2 ν 2 , ν 2 + ν 4 , and 2 ν 4 ) are presented. The infrared spectrum of 13 CH 4 (90% enriched) has been recorded with the Fourier transform spectrometer at Kitt Peak National Observatory. Line positions have been measured with a relative accuracy of 0.0001 cm −1 (for well-isolated lines) using 0.0118-cm −1 resolution spectra. In order to compensate for the lack of infrared information about low J transitions of vibrational bands forbidden in infrared, two spectra of the ν 1 ( A 1 ) and 2 ν 2 ( A 1 ) Q branches have been recorded in Dijon by inverse Raman spectrosc…
Non-perturbative renormalisation of four fermion operators and B0 −B0 bar mixing with Wilson fermions
2003
We present new results for the renormalisation and subtraction constants for the four fermion DeltaF = 2 operators, computed non-perturbatively in the RI-MOM scheme (in the Landau gauge). From our preliminary analysis of the lattice data at beta = 6.45, for the B-0 - B-0,mixing bag-parameter we obtain B-B(RGI) = 1.46(7)(1).
Harmonic reduction in CHB 13-level inverters by PAM fundamental-frequency strategy
2019
In this paper cascaded H-bridges (CHB) 13-level inverters are considered and a particular pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) strategy is introduced to mitigate or eliminate many harmonic components on the output voltage, in order to obtain low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) factor. This procedure defines different dc voltage sources and sets of six switching angles, depending on an integer parameter $q$ belonging to the close interval $I=[11, 15]$ . The obtained THD doesn't depend on modulation index $m$ . The control of $m$ is made by changing the dc voltage sources that depend linearly on m, while the switching angles remain constant. An investigation about the role of the $q$ parameter on…
A Preliminary Analysis of a New Chandra Observation (ObsID 6148) of Cir X-1
2008
We present the preliminary spectral analysis of a 25 ks long Chandra observation of the peculiar source Cir X–1 near the periastron passage. We estimate more precise coordinates of the source compatible with the optical and radio counterpart coordinates. We detect emission lines associated to Mg XII, Si XIII, Si XIV, S XV, S XVI Ar XVII, Ar XVIII, Ca XIX, Ca XX, Fe XXV, Fe XXVI showing a redshift of 470 km s−1. The more intense emission features at 6.6 keV show a double‐peaked shape that can be modelled with two or three Gaussian lines.
