Type A competitiveness traits correlate with downregulation of c-Fos expression in patients with type 1 diabetes.

2019

International audience; AimType A personality has been associated with increased survival in people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Systemic low-grade inflammation may play a critical role, as suggested in recent reports, although the links between the inflammatory circulating transcriptome and Type A remain unknown. This prompted our exploration of the potential associations between Type A personality and c-Fos gene expression, a candidate gene closely linked to inflammatory processes, in T1D.MethodsType A personality was assessed by Bortner questionnaire in patients with T1D, and two subscales – ‘speed’ and ‘competitiveness’ – were used to measure these specific dimensions of Type A. Endocrine side-effects of new anticancer therapies: Overall monitoring and conclusions

2018

IF 0.795 (2017); International audience; The present final consensus statement of the French Society of Endocrinology lays out the assessments that are to be systematically performed before and during anticancer treatment by immunotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors or mTOR inhibitors, even without onset of any endocrinopathy. It also discusses the CTCAE adverse event grading system in oncology and the difficulty of implementing it for endocrine side-effects of these anticancer treatments. Notably, this is why certain treatment steps applied in other side-effects (e.g., high-dose corticosteroids, contraindications to immunotherapy, etc.) need to be discussed before implementation for endocr…

Disease expression in women with hereditary angioedema

2008

Udgivelsesdato: 2008-Jun-11 OBJECTIVE: Fluctuations in sex hormones can trigger angioedema attacks in women with hereditary angioedema. Combined oral contraceptive therapies, as well as pregnancy, can induce severe attacks. The course of angioedema may be very variable in different women. STUDY DESIGN: Within the PREHAEAT project launched by the European Union, data on 150 postpubertal women with hereditary angioedema were collected in 8 countries, using a patient-based questionnaire. RESULTS: Puberty worsened the disease for 62%. Combined oral contraceptives worsened the disease for 79%, whereas progestogen-only pills improved it for 64%. During pregnancies, 38% of women had more attacks, …

Early cardiovascular events in women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus

2016

International audience; Background: The effect of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is not assessed within the first 10 years postpartum, regardless of subsequent diabetes. The aim of this study was to determine the risk of CVD events related to GDM within 7 years of postpartum. Methods: This nationwide population-based study of deliveries in 2007 and 2008 with a follow-up of 7 years was based on data from the French medico-administrative database. Two groups were formed: women with a history of GDM and women without GDM or previous diabetes. CVD included angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, stroke, heart bypass surgery, coronary angioplasty, carotid end…

2015

Dietary lipids are detected by the gustatory system in rodents and humans. Two candidate lipid-receptors are found in taste buds: CD36, which is involved in the fat taste as shown by studies conducted in our laboratory, and GPR120. Our results show that GPR120 is not directly involved in the gustatory detection of lipids in mice, but could rather be involved in the modulation of the sensitivity for fat. When this gustatory system works properly, food choices can meet the organism’s energy needs. Besides, the pleasure brought by the consumption of palatable foods is satisfied. However, obese people often overconsume energy-dense food. In the central nervous system, perturbations of the rewar…
