ÉQUATIONS DIFFÉRENTIELLES À COEFFICIENTS DANS DES CORPS DE SÉRIES GÉNÉRALISÉES.
2007
We express the connection between the support of some equations and those of generalized series solutions. On the one hand we prove that any real power series solution of a sub-analytic differential equation belong to a lattice (i.e. an additive sub semi-group of positive reals). On the other hand we consider the field Mr of series with well-ordered support included in the Hahn product Hr with finite rank r (i.e. the lexicographic product of r copies of the reals). We equip Mr with a "Hardy type" derivation and define some well-ordered sets T1, ..., Tr such that : for all equation F(y,...,y(n))=0 with F in Mr[[Y0,...,Yn]] and whose support Supp F is a well-ordered subset of Hr, and for all …
Differential inclusions involving normal cones of nonregular sets in Hilbert spaces
2017
This thesis is dedicated to the study of differential inclusions involving normal cones of nonregular sets in Hilbert spaces. In particular, we are interested in the sweeping process and its variants. The sweeping process is a constrained differential inclusion involving normal cones which appears naturally in several applications such as elastoplasticity, electrical circuits, hysteresis, crowd motion, etc. This work is divided conceptually in three parts: Study of positively alpha-far sets, existence results for differential inclusions involving normal cones and characterizations of Lyapunov pairs for the sweeping process. In the first part (Chapter 2), we investigate the class of positivel…
Seasonal reproducibility and predictability of the West African Monsoon in coupled GCMs
2009
In the framework of the ENSEMBLES FP6 project, an ensemble prediction system based on five different state-of-the-art European coupled models has been developed. This study evaluates the performance of these models for forecasting the West African monsoon (WAM) at the monthly time scale. From simulations started the 1 May of each year and covering the period 1991–2001, the reproducibility and potential predictability (PP) of key parameters of the WAM—rainfall, zonal and meridional wind at four levels from the surface to 200 hPa, and specific humidity, from July to September—are assessed. The Sahelian rainfall mode of variability is not accurately reproduced contrary to the Guinean rainfall …
Arbres couvrants presque disjoints
2015

Gestures and glances - the effects of familiarity and expertise on singers’ and pianists’ bodily movements in ensemble rehearsals
2009
The types, functions, sources and effects of musicians’ bodily movements have been studied in soloists’ live and recorded performances, to a lesser extent in their practice sessions and rehearsals, and in ensemble musicians’ rehearsals. The present study explored the effects of familiarity and expertise on singers’ and pianists’ bodily movements and eye contact in ensemble rehearsals. Two established singer-pianist duos rehearsed three songs in different combinations. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were undertaken. Bodily movement and eye contact were used to consolidate technical details, convey musical information and coordinate entries. Singers used gestures to reflect and support…
Boosting for ranking data: an extension to item weighting
2021
Diversity in search strategies for ensemble feature selection
2005
Ensembles of learnt models constitute one of the main current directions in machine learning and data mining. Ensembles allow us to achieve higher accuracy, which is often not achievable with single models. It was shown theoretically and experimentally that in order for an ensemble to be effective, it should consist of base classifiers that have diversity in their predictions. One technique, which proved to be effective for constructing an ensemble of diverse base classifiers, is the use of different feature subsets, or so-called ensemble feature selection. Many ensemble feature selection strategies incorporate diversity as an objective in the search for the best collection of feature subse…
Unmixing of Polymer Blends Confined in Ultrathin Films: Crossover between Two-Dimensional and Three-Dimensional Behavior
2006
The interplay between chain conformations and phase separation in binary symmetric polymer mixtures confined into thin films by "neutral" hard walls (i.e., walls that do not preferentially attract or repel one of the two components of the mixture) is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. Using the bond fluctuation model on a simple cubic lattice in the semi grand canonical ensemble, we locate the critical temperature of demixing via finite size scaling methods for a wide range of chain lengths (16/= N/= 256 effective monomers per chain) and film thicknesses (2/= D/= 19 lattice spacings). Simultaneously, we investigate the geometrical structure of the chains, showing that despite using melt de…
Coil-bridge transition in a single polymer chain as an unconventional phase transition: theory and simulation.
2014
The coil-bridge transition in a self-avoiding lattice chain with one end fixed at height H above the attractive planar surface is investigated by theory and Monte Carlo simulation. We focus on the details of the first-order phase transition between the coil state at large height H ⩾ Htr and a bridge state at H ⩽ Htr, where Htr corresponds to the coil-bridge transition point. The equilibrium properties of the chain were calculated using the Monte Carlo pruned-enriched Rosenbluth method in the moderate adsorption regime at (H/Na)tr ⩽ 0.27 where N is the number of monomer units of linear size a. An analytical theory of the coil-bridge transition for lattice chains with excluded volume interact…
