Państwo opiekuńcze i przestrzeń publiczna w płynnej nowoczesności

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie stanu państwa opiekuńczego i przestrzeni publicznej w epoce płynnej nowoczesności, omawianej w dziełach Zygmunta Baumana. Tekst rozpoczyna analiza zwrotu neoliberalnego w kontekście upłynniania się nowoczesnego świata. Neoliberalne myślenie zdominowało bowiem społeczne, polityczne, ekonomiczne i kulturowe aspekty życia. Na tym tle przedstawiono zjawisko społeczeństwa sieciowego, związanego z technologiami informacyjnymi i komunikacyjnymi, takimi jak Internet i telefon komórkowy, a także omówiono globalny kryzys nierówności, niweczący wysiłki podejmowane na rzecz demokracji.

Differential effects of perceptions of equal, favourable and unfavourable autonomy support on educational and well-being outcomes

Abstract In this study, we examined whether high-school students experienced optimal educational and well-being outcomes when they perceived that they and their classmates received an equal, rather than unequal, and high amount of autonomy support from teachers. In a prospective study that aimed to predict academic grades and well-being outcomes, surface analyses of polynomial regression equations pointed that perceptions of equal autonomy support were the most optimal in terms of yielding highest levels of need satisfaction, autonomous forms of motivation and happiness with math courses. Men and women in positions of responsibility: A qualitative analysis of organizational readiness in France and Finland

This paper examines whether male and female managers hold different opinion on women in managerial and higher level positions, depending on their different cultural background. Furthermore, the paper deals with managers’ perception of organizational readiness to accept women in managerial positions. The paper is looking at this aspect from a cultural perspective, by comparing France to Finland. The research is based on 16 interviews, 9 from France and 7 from Finland, with individuals in different managerial positions in 10 private companies located in both countries. The paper is concerned with a free boundary problem generated by the biharmonic operator and an obstacle. The main goal is to deduce a fully guaranteed upper bound of the difference between the exact minimizer u and any function (approximation) from the corresponding energy class (which consists of the functions in $H^2$ satisfying the prescribed boundary conditions and the restrictions stipulated by the obstacle). Assouad Type Dimensions in Geometric Analysis

We consider applications of the dual pair of the (upper) Assouad dimension and the lower (Assouad) dimension in analysis. We relate these notions to other dimensional conditions such as a Hausdorff content density condition and an integrability condition for the distance function. The latter condition leads to a characterization of the Muckenhoupt Ap properties of distance functions in terms of the (upper) Assouad dimension. It is also possible to give natural formulations for the validity of Hardy–Sobolev inequalities using these dual Assouad dimensions, and this helps to understand the previously observed dual nature of certain cases of these inequalities. peerReviewed

AbstractIn this paper, we study the second-order Sobolev regularity of solutions to the parabolic p-Laplace equation. For any p-parabolic function u, we show that $$D(\left| Du\right| ^{\frac{p-2+s}{2}}Du)$$ D ( D u p - 2 + s 2 D u ) exists as a function and belongs to $$L^{2}_{\text {loc}}$$ L loc 2 with $$s>-1$$ s > - 1 and $$1<p<\infty $$ 1 < p < ∞ . The range of s is sharp.
