Equivalent Circuit Modelling of Ferrite Inductors Losses

2018

The modelling of the magnetic losses in the core of ferrite inductors for power conversion circuits has been considered in this paper. On the basis of the Revised Generalized Steinmetz Model (RGSE) an equivalent circuital modelling has been obtained. The losses are modelled as an equivalent resistance connected in parallel to the inductor. The model has been tested under periodic triangular current waveforms.

A Strategy for the Prediction of the Response of Hysteretic Systems: A Base for Capacity Assessment of Buildings under Seismic Load

2014

A statistical non linearization method is used to approximate systems modeled by the Bouc differential equa- tion and excited by a Gaussian white noise external load. To this aim restricted potential models (RPM) are used, which are suitable for an extended number of nonlinear problems as have been proved several times. Since the solution of RPM is known by the probabilistic point of view, all statistical characteristics can be derived at once with advantages by the computational point of view. Hence, this paper discusses the possibility to determine sets of parameters characterizing po- tential models that are valid for describing a hysteretic behavior. In this way the characterization of …

Ļaunprātīgas rīcības jēdziens Ženēvas 1956. gada 19. maija Konvencijā "Par kravu starptautisko autopārvadājumu līgumu (CMR)."

2015

Convergence of dynamic programming principles for the $p$-Laplacian

2018

We provide a unified strategy to show that solutions of dynamic programming principles associated to the $p$-Laplacian converge to the solution of the corresponding Dirichlet problem. Our approach includes all previously known cases for continuous and discrete dynamic programming principles, provides new results, and gives a convergence proof free of probability arguments.

An implicit mesh discontinuous Galerkin formulation for higher-order plate theories

2019

In this work, a discontinuous Galerkin formulation for higher-order plate theories is presented. The starting point of the formulation is the strong form of the governing equations, which are derived in the context of the Generalized Unified Formulation and the Equivalent Single Layer approach from the Principle of Virtual Displacements. To express the problem within the discontinuous Galerkin framework, an auxiliary flux variable is introduced and the governing equations are rewritten as a system of first-order partial differential equations, which are weakly stated over each mesh element. The link among neighboring mesh elements is then retrieved by introducing suitably defined numerical …

Treffen sich ein Pole und ein Deutscher: Zu den Schwierigkeiten bei der Übersetzung von Witzen

2018

One cannot always laugh at a joke. Problems arise, among other things, when a joke is to be translated from one language into another. On the basis of selected examples, the present article deals with the difficulties with the translation of jokes from German into Polish and vice versa, and presents some suggestions of coping with them.

Tracking dynamics of magma migration in open-conduit systems

2016

Open-conduit volcanic systems are typically characterized by unsealed volcanic conduits feeding permanent or quasi-permanent volcanic activity. This persistent activity limits our ability to read changes in the monitored parameters, making the assessment of possible eruptive crises more difficult. We show how an integrated approach to monitoring can solve this problem, opening a new way to data interpretation. The increasing rate of explosive transients, tremor amplitude, thermal emissions of ejected tephra, and rise of the very-long-period (VLP) seismic source towards the surface are interpreted as indicating an upward migration of the magma column in response to an increased magma input r…

2015

Large volcanic eruptions are major geohazards, so identifying their frequency in the geologic record is critical for making predictions and hazard assessments. Following the discovery of a thick (18 cm) tephra layer in marine sediments from Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Site U1396 between Montserrat and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean Sea, we document here how high-precision Pb isotopes, trace elements, and grain morphological analyses of the tephra can be used, together with volcanological models, to identify a large (Volcanic Explosivity Index ?6) Plinian eruption from Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, at ca. 2.36 Ma. This previously unrecognized eruption is believed to be the largest docum…
