Este articulo trata de participar en el debate en torno al uso del concepto de dignidad en la bioetica. No solo tratara de mostrar que este puede ser utilizado con sentido, sino que defendera que se trata de un termino clave necesario para la reflexion bioetica, especialmente, dentro del debate sobre la mejora humana. El presente articulo trata de presentar los modelos teoricos de Axel Honneth y Adela Cortina —teoria de la lucha por el reconocimiento y etica de la razon cordial, respectivamente— como una respuesta critica a algunas deficiencias localizadas en la teoria de la accion comunicativa y la etica del discurso habermasiana. Tras exponer los elementos mas importantes de los modelos de Habermas, sistematizare algunos de los problemas fundamentales que se derivan de ellos. Habermas y Levinas: hacia el diálogo desde dos niveles

A continuación presento las conclusiones de una investigación motivada por la necesidad de crear condiciones para el diálogo en sociedades no consolidadas democráticamente. Planteo una relectura de la ética discursiva habermasiana desde las críticas que hace Emmanuel Levinas a la filosofía de la Totalidad y, desde allí, propongo una serie de aportes, incluso complementarios, entre los autores. El diálogo se hace posible, pero implica la consideración de otros niveles de análisis que en principio no están contemplados en la teoría de Jürgen Habermas.

This article summarizes the results presented in a series of invited contributions which were submitted to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of publication of the seminal article ‘‘Homage to Santa Rosalia or why are there so many kinds of animals’’ by G.E. Hutchinson. The authors were asked to explore old and new paradigms of biodiversity in aquatic ecosystems. The contributions by Hutchinson in this field are truly landmarks in the history of modern ecological sciences. Minimum effective dose for antidepressants - an obligatory requirement for antidepressant drug evaluation?

Extensive clinical trials are required for registration and approval of new antidepressants in most countries including the requirement that a minimal effective dose should be determined. The rationale for this requirement is to avoid the use of unnecessarily high doses. The implication is that for every antidepressant, a dose exists that serves as a threshold, below which all doses are not effective or are clearly less effective in treating a major depressive episode. Dose titration and fixed dose studies are used to determine the minimal effective dose, but both strategies have limitations and often do not allow definite establishment of a clear-cut minimal effective dose. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the narratives about a possible environmental collapse and its consequences have multiplied. This is due to a growing awareness about issues such as climate change or the energy crisis. The so-called ‘climate science fiction’ or cli-fi has reflected these concerns in highly successful films, like the two analysed here: The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), a remake of the 1951 classic. In this paper, I approach both films through an analysis of their plot and narrative structure, focusing mainly on the evolution of their main characters and storylines.
