The Consumer Resistance Behavior towards Innovation

2013

Abstract The purpose of this work is to identify and analyze consumer resistance in order to understand this concept in the area of resistant behavior. The paper converges on studying the resistance to innovation from a theoretical perspective and to show it importance in innovation process. The paper concludes bydescribing the complexity of resistance to innovation, its forms and effects on the behavior of consumers and market. Although most authors focus their research on positive adoption decisions, this paper instead focus on developing insight into the relatively underdeveloped area of resistant behavior literature by presenting key concepts of resistance to innovation.

Wireless Sensor Network for Monitoring Thermal Evolution of the Fluid Traveling inside Ground Heat Exchangers

2011

Ground-Coupled Heat Pump (GCHP) systems are an attractive choice of system for heating and cooling buildings (Genchi, 2002; Sanner, 2003; Omer, 2008; Urchueguia, 2008). By comparison with standard technologies, these heat pumps offer competitive levels of comfort, reduced noise levels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and reasonable environmental safety. Furthermore, their electrical consumption and maintenance requirements are lower than those required by conventional systems and, consequently, they have a lower annual operating cost (Lund, 2000). Ground source systems are recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as being among the most efficient and comfortable heating and co…

Efecto in vitro de la adición de resinas de intercambio iónico sobre la biodisponibilidad de electrolitos en fórmulas de nutrición enteral artificial

2008

The in vitro effect of the addition of ion exchange resins on the bioavailability of electrolytes in artificial enteral feeding formulas Objective: To determine in vitro free ion concentration in three standard artificial enteral feeding formulas following the addition of ion exchange resins. Method: Three standard types of AEF were chosen: Osmolite HN®, Nutrison Standard® and Isosource Standard®. The ion exchange resins used were: Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate and Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate. 100 ml of AEF were mixed in a beaker with 1.5 g or 3 g of ion exchange resins for 48 hours at 37oC. Subsequently, the samples were precipitated and the supernatant obtained was used for determining t…

ChemInform Abstract: Chemistry and Properties of Solids with the (NZP) Skeleton

2010

Abstract Solids with an [NZP] skeleton in their structure from a very broad family presenting very different properties with varying chemical composition. These properties range from radioactive nuclide immobilization and insulation to ionic and/or electronic conduction, extending to the field of very low thermal expansion among others. The open [NZP] skeleton provides the stability and flexibility necessary to form continuous ranges of solid solution, allowing the tailoring of the best composition-property-structure material. Chemical activity may become particularly high at the surface and absorption reactions and catalytic properties have the highest interest at present. In this paper, c…

First-Principles Study on Polymorphs of AgVO3: Assessing to Structural Stabilities and Pressure-Induced Transitions

2017

In this paper, we present a comprehensive theoretical study, based on density-functional theory calculations, and which focuses on the structural and electronic properties of silver vanadium oxide (AgVO3) in the monoclinic [Cm (β-AgVO3), C2/c (α-AgVO3), and Cc], orthorhombic (Amm2), and cubic (Pm3̅m) phases from 0–30 GPa. The structural and electronic properties, the stability of different phases, and the pressure-induced solid–solid phase transitions of AgVO3 have been previously studied. The effects of pressure on the band structures, energy–gap values, density of states, and vibrational frequencies are also studied. Numerical and analytical calculations are conducted to obtain the lattic…

Direct observation of temperature dependent magnetic domain structure of the multiferroic La0.66Sr0.34MnO3/BiFeO3 bilayer system by x-ray linear dich…

2014

Low-thickness La0.66Sr0.34MnO3 (LSMO)/BiFeO3 (BFO) thin film samples deposited on SrTiO3 were imaged by high resolution x-ray microscopy at different temperatures. The ultra-thin thickness of the top layer allows to image both the ferromagnetic domain structure of LSMO and the multiferroic domain structure of the buried BFO layer, opening a path to a direct observation of coupling at the interface on a microscopic level. By comparing the domain size and structure of the BFO and LSMO, we observed that, in contrast to LSMO single layers, LSMO/BFO multilayers show a strong temperature dependence of the ferromagnetic domain structure of the LSMO. Particularly, at 40 K, a similar domain size for…

Multi-line NIR-RGB emission in Nd:LiNbO3 RPE optical waveguides

2007

Simultaneous generation of four spectral emission lines has been achieved in Nd-doped lithium niobate reverse proton exchange optical waveguide cavities. Using a pump at 800 nm, the four lines were found and they are due to lasing at 1.3735 combined with parametric conversion at 0.687, 0.574 and 0.4 mum.

Modification of vacuum-ultraviolet absorption of SiOH groups in SiO2 glass with temperature, F2 laser irradiation, and H–D isotope exchange

2006

Abstract Variations of vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) absorption of silanol (SiOH) groups in synthetic wet SiO 2 glass with temperature, exposure to F 2 laser light, and with H–D isotope exchange were examined at photon energies below 8 eV. The intensity of the VUV absorption band decreases with cooling or with exposure to F 2 laser light. The spectral changes in both cases are qualitatively similar and are attributed to an alternation of the bonding configuration of SiOH groups from isolated into hydrogen-bonded states. However, the resultant states are distinctly different: the hydrogen-bonded state formed on cooling is restored reversibly to the isolated state on heating, while that induced by…
