This paper explains the pedagogical experience conducted during 2011-2012 by the author at the Ghent University (Belgium), in which he tried to recover the historical memory through oral history teaching. The search and document analysis in Belgian correspondence files, photographs and drawings, and the use of interviews and life stories of «children» exiled in Ghent during the Spanish Civil War, are the sources used for the study of these childhood stories. Neutral experts or passionate participants? Renegotiating expertise and the right to act in Finnish participatory social policy

This article examines a case of participatory social policy in which former beneficiaries were invited as ‘experts-by-experience’ into Finnish social welfare organisations. It combines a governmentality perspective with the analytical tools of the sociology of engagements to explore as what the projects’ participants are engaged, and how the differing demands made on their ways of being are made to appear as legitimate. The article shows how different definitions of expertise are used to steer the participants’ forms of engagement, and how these definitions appear valid only within a specific frame of justifying civic participation. Channel integration makes Customer Experience Management more complex and requires from retailers a regeneration of their value proposition. A longitudinal case study reveal a hierarchical sequence of operant resource triad: cultural mindsets, strategic directions for designing value propositions, and a dynamic system of capabilities for continually renewing customer experiences. The implementation of a customer data collection infrastructure, the adoption of an iterative and sequential innovation process, and the mobilization of cross-functional and multidisciplinary project teams, will help develop the firm’s dynamic system of capabilities.

Virtual reality, VR, is challenging marketers to understand both brand interaction and the customer experience at the point of sale. In order to test the usefulness of VR in retailing, research must address how the customer’s visual attention in a VR setting affects his/her behavior. There are two main drivers for this research. First, there has been an enormous growth in recent years in the use of neurophysiological methods to measure visual attention.
