En sciences de la terre et dans le cadre de la théorie de la tectonique des plaques, les processus orogéniques peuvent être difficiles à concevoir par des lycéens et des enseignants. Dans ce papier, on s’interroge, par le biais d’un questionnaire, sur les difficultés à la construction d’un registre explicatif de la formation des chaînes de montagnes par les apprenants. Nous confrontons aussi, dans un atelier-débat, les explications de l’orogenèse proposées par des enseignants à celles avancées par Avicenne. Les registres explicatifs des apprenants sont multiples et l’usage de l’histoire des sciences leur a permis de travailler dans un registre explicatif mobiliste.

While the concept of a conscious machine is intriguing, producing such a machine remains controversial and challenging. Here we describe how our work on creating a humanoid cognitive robot that learns to perform tasks via imitation learning relates to this issue. Our discussion is divided into three parts. First, we summarize our previously-detailed framework for advancing the understanding of the nature of phenomenal consciousness. How news affect the trading behavior of different categories of investors in a financial market

We investigate the trading behavior of a large set of single investors trading the highly liquid Nokia stock over the period 2003-2008 with the aim of determining the relative role of endogenous and exogenous factors that may affect their behavior. As endogenous factors we consider returns and volatility, whereas the exogenous factors we use are the total daily number of news and a semantic variable based on a sentiment analysis of news. Linear regression and partial correlation analysis of data show that different categories of investors are differently correlated to these factors.
