Several neurodegenerative diseases have been linked to proteins or peptides that are prone to aggregate in different brain regions. Aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides is recognized as the main cause of Alzheimer's disease (AD) progression, leading to the formation of toxic Aβ oligomers and amyloid fibrils. The molecular mechanism of Aβ aggregation is complex and still not fully understood. Amphetamine-type stimulants analysis in oral fluid based on molecularly imprinting extraction

Abstract A methamphetamine-based molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) has been prepared by bulk polymerization to recognize new psychoactive substances (NPS) of the amphetamine, cathinones and 2C families in oral fluid samples, being the first precedent of a synthetized MIP for the extraction and preconcentration 32 NPS including amphetamine type substances and synthetic cathinones from oral fluids. Sub- and supercritical fluid extraction of trichloropyridinol from soil prior to immunoassay

A comparative study on the extraction of TCP (3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol, a metabolite of chlorpyrifos) from soil with CO2 and H2O is reported. The polarity of the analyte requires the presence of both a cosolvent (methanol) and an ion-pair reagent [(1R)-(-)-10-camphorsulfonic acid ammonium salt] for 95% extraction in 30 min when supercritical CO2 at 40 degrees C and 383 bar is used as extractant. Subcritical water (250 degrees C and 200 bar) enables complete extraction within 15 min without additives. Micellar liquid chromatography determination of rivaroxaban in plasma and urine. Validation and theoretical aspects.

A Micellar Chromatographic method to determine rivaroxaban in plasma and urine has been developed. The samples were dissolved in the mobile phase (SDS 0.05 M – 1-propanol 12.5%, phosphate buffered at pH 7) and 20 μL directly injected, avoiding the extraction and purification steps. Using a C18 column and running under isocratic mode at 1 mL/min, analyte was eluted without interference from the matrix in <6.0 min. The detection absorbance wavelength was set to 250 nm. Plasmonic Nanosensor Array for Multiplexed DNA-based Pathogen Detection

In this research we introduce a plasmonic nanoparticle based optical biosensor for monitoring of molecular binding events. The sensor utilizes spotted gold nanoparticle arrays as sensing platform. The nanoparticle spots are functionalized with capture DNA sequences complementary to the analyte (target) DNA. Upon incubation with the target sequence, it will bind on the respectively complementary functionalized particle spot. Hydrothermal synthesis of nanostructured inorganic powders by a continuous process under supercritical conditions

Abstract In this study, using a prototype of hydrothermal synthesis in subcritical and supercritical water working in a continuous way, nanometric ceramic precursors with perfectly defined composition are produced: spinel ferrites such as Fe2CoO4, TiO2 with anatase structure and also perovskite structures such as BaZrO3. The as-prepared powders are fully characterized by complementary experiments: X-ray diffraction, electron microscopies, EDX spectrometry, surface area measurement, etc. Thus, particles size, morphology, aggregation state, crystal structure, composition are investigated. Milk is however developmentally heterogeneous in composition as a function of both evolved constraints and offspring demand.
