<title>Advanced light sources for atomic absorption analysis</title>

2003

High-frequency electrodeless light sources (HF EDLS) are widely used as bright radiators of narrow and intensive atomic and ionic spectral lines, covering the spectrum from VUV to IR. Main characteristics of HF EDLS are high emitted spectral line intensity, long service life, and in general, narrow spectral line shapes because of low-pressure of filling elements. In this work we give a short overview of the use of HF EDLS, containing Hg, Te, Se, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, Bi, Tl, In, Cd, Sn, in Zeeman Atomic absorption devices for assaying natural, drinking, waste and technical water as well as air, soil, food products and biological samples. The first steps are made for optimization of Ge, Ga, P, S, …

Internally Contracted Multireference Coupled Cluster Calculations with a Spin-Free Dirac-Coulomb Hamiltonian: Application to the Monoxides of Titaniu…

2017

We combine internally contracted multireference coupled cluster theory with a four-component treatment of scalar-relativistic effects based on the spin-free Dirac–Coulomb Hamiltonian. This strategy allows for a rigorous treatment of static and dynamic correlation as well as scalar-relativistic effects, which makes it viable to describe molecules containing heavy transition elements. The use of a spin-free formalism limits the impact of the four-component treatment on the computational cost to the non-rate-determining steps of the calculations. We apply the newly developed method to the lowest singlet and triplet states of the monoxides of titanium, zirconium, and hafnium and show how the in…

Zirconium & Hafnium: Organometallic ChemistryBased in part on the article Zirconium & Hafnium: Organometallic Chemistry by Bernard Gautheron,…

2006

This review considers the main aspects of organometallic chemistry of zirconium and hafnium during the last 10 years. It is complementary to the first edition of Encyclopedia of Inorganic Chemistry. The material is presented in two major parts divided in five and three sections respectively. The first part is devoted to syntheses: the first section, by far the largest, covers in a systematic manner bis and mono cyclopentadienyl complexes with +4, +3, and +2 oxidation states and more especially constrained-geometry (CG) complexes, cationic complexes, and anionic or zwitterionic 18-electron complexes; unusual coordination geometries at carbon stabilized by group 4 metallocenes are presented i…

Lattice dynamics of superconducting zirconium and hafnium nitride halides

2003

We have performed a study of the Raman active modes of β-HfNCl, β-ZrNCl, and β-ZrNBr and Na-doped β-HfNCl in various scattering configurations. The experimental values are compared with a lattice dynamical calculation andassigned to definite atomic motions. The variation of the atomic force constants are analyzed as a function of the bond length, relating their relative strength with the atomic characteristics of the compound.

Benefit of an animated simulation device for learning the highway code for deaf candidates : behavioural and physiological evaluation

2021

In France, the law called “loi handicap”, adopted on February 11th 2005, aims to ensure that people with disabilities benefit from the same conditions of access as all French citizens. The driving licence, because of its contribution to mobility, represents one of the major levers of an individual's general accessibility. Its successful completion improves social and professional integration. However, according to a parliamentary report of 2005, the success rate of deaf candidates in the theoretical exam of the highway code, allowing access to the practical exam of the driving license, was lower than that of hearing people. This thesis focuses on one of the possible causes of these differenc…

Reproducibility of pulse wave velocity and augmentation index derived from non-invasive occlusive oscillometric tonometry analysis in adolescents

2019

The aim of this study was to investigate the short‐term reproducibility of aortic pulse wave velocity (PWVao) and augmentation index (AIx%) assessed by the non‐invasive oscillometric device. Altogether of 55 (19 boys, 36 girls) adolescents 16–19‐years‐of‐age participated in the study. PWVao and AIx% were measured during the same laboratory visit at 2 min intervals using the Arteriograph™ device. Peak oxygen uptake (V̇O2peak) was assessed by the maximal exercise test on a cycle ergometer and body fat percentage by bioelectrical impedance analysis. We studied reproducibility using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), coefficient variation with the root‐means‐square method expressed as p…

Muscle-tendon morphomechanical properties of non-surgically treated Achilles tendon 1-year post-rupture

2022

Background\ud Achilles tendon rupture appears to alter stiffness and length of the tendon. These alterations may affect the function of tendon in force transmission and in energy storage and recovery. We studied the mechanical properties of the Achilles' tendon post-rupture and their association with function.\ud Methods\ud Twenty-four (20 males, 4 females) participants (mean age: 43 y, 176 cm, 81 kg) were recruited. Ultrasonography and dynamometry were used to assess the muscle-tendon unit morphological and mechanical properties of non-surgically treated patients 1-year post rupture.\ud Findings\ud Injured tendons were longer with difference of 1.8 cm (95%CI: 0.5–1.9 cm; P < 0.001), and th…
