Osteoporoze ir skeleta slimība, kurai raksturīga kaulu masas samazināšanās un kaulaudu mikrostruktūras pārmaiņas, kas mazina kaulu izturību un palielina lūzumu risku. Osteoporoze parasti norit ilgstoši, biežāk bez specifiskiem klīniskiem simptomiem. Galvenais ārstēšanas mērķis ir kaulu lūzumu riska samazināšana un pacientu atveseļošanās veicināšana pēc osteoporozes izraisīta kaulu lūzuma. Acoustic wave guides as infinite-dimensional dynamical systems

We prove the unique solvability, passivity/conservativity and some regularity results of two mathematical models for acoustic wave propagation in curved, variable diameter tubular structures of finite length. The first of the models is the generalised Webster's model that includes dissipation and curvature of the 1D waveguide. The second model is the scattering passive, boundary controlled wave equation on 3D waveguides. The two models are treated in an unified fashion so that the results on the wave equation reduce to the corresponding results of approximating Webster's model at the limit of vanishing waveguide intersection.
Rotational effects on the oscillation frequencies of newly born proto-neutron stars

In this paper we study the effects of rotation on the frequencies of the quasi-normal modes of a proto-neutron star (PNS) born in a gravitational collapse during the first minute of life. Our analysis starts a few tenths of seconds after the PNS formation, when the stellar evolution can be described by a sequence of equilibrium configurations. We use the evolutionary models developed by Pons et al. (1999; 2001) that describe how a non rotating star cools down and contracts while neutrino diffusion and thermalization processes dominate the stellar dynamics. Together with solar, wind, and hydro renewable energy sources (RES), biomass constitutes an integral part of the high-renewables electricity systems. Considerable feedstocks for electricity generation are process-based residues. Ukraine is the world leader in sunflower seed production, therefore, husk (a by-product of oil production) is a promising biofuel for combustion- based power plants. Kim and Markus (1999) found that 74% of Americans selected a pen with an uncommon (vs. common) color, whereas only 24% of Asians made such a choice, highlighting a pronounced crosscultural difference in the extent to which people opt for originality or make majority-based choices. The present high-powered study (N = 729) conceptually replicates the results from Kim and Markus (1999; Study 3). An integrated review of existing geological and geophysical data – partly acquired during oil and gas exploration – combined with new data provided by deep geothermal studies of selected key areas, was used for the 3D modeling and mapping of the top of the geothermal reservoir developed at a regional scale in Sicily (Central Mediterranean). The resulting 1:500,000 scale map covers the area of the whole Sicily (about 25,700 km2) and is devoted to represent the main input for both the thermal modeling and the evaluation of geothermal potential at a regional scale. Tensions and resilience: the experiences of adult foster-care workers in Finland

This article examines adult foster care for older people in Finland. This is a semi-formal service in which older people are cared for by foster carers who are remunerated for their work by the local municipality. In the article, the tensions and resources of resilience of foster-care work are analysed. The data consist of 12 thematic interviews with foster carers. The results suggest that foster-care work is emotionally draining and has adverse effects on social relationships. However, foster carers see caring as purposeful, they see themselves as professionals and they have enough social resources.
