Baktēriju augšanu ir iespējams ietekmēt ar elektromagnētisko starojumu. Šī darba mērķis bija pētīt Escherichia coli un Staphylococus aureus kultūru dzīvotspēju pulsējošā elektromagnētiskā un gaismas starojuma ietekmē, vadoties pēc R. R. Raifa izstrādātās mikroorganismu nāvējošās oscilācijas hipotēzes. Šim nolūkam tika replicēta R.R. Raifa elektromagnētiskā starojuma ierīce, kas apstaroja kultūras režīmos no 600 Hz līdz 1000 Hz laika periodā 10 sekundes. Dzīvotspēja tika noteikta, mikroskopējot un skaitot šūnas, kas tika iekrāsotas ar ThermoFisher LIVE/DEAD BacLight Bacterial Viability Kit. Mes travaux portent sur les non-publics des arts et leur fabrication institutionnelle, à savoir leur production par les institutions chargées de mettre en œuvre sur un territoire donné les politiques culturelles les concernant. Pour explorer cette question, je me place dans la perspective initiée en sociologie de l'art par Pascale Ancel et Alain Pessin (2004) et caractérisée par la remise en question de la frontière entre publics et non-publics. Late Quaternary sedimentary evolution of the Castellammare Gulf (North-Western Sicily offshore)

High-resolution seismic stratigraphy has been applied to the interpretation of the stratigraphic architecture of Late Pleistocene and Holocene successions on the continental shelf and upper slope of the Gulf of Castellammare, North-Western Sicily. The Late Quaternary type 1 depositional sequence is bounded by a regional unconformity and it is made up of four systems tracts, developed under fourth order relative sea level fluctuations, after the previous highstand of isotope Stage 5e. Software Complexity and Organization of Firms’ Offshoring Activities

How does software complexity shape software providers’ offshoring tasks, and how do such firms organize their offshoring activity? These questions are important, since the global software development market is growing rapidly, offering new opportunities for software managers and entrepreneurs to distribute their activities geographically. Based on a multi-site case study of 12 software firms, we study connections between software complexity and the offshoring strategies selected. Our findings suggest that software firms select a variety of organizational structures for their offshoring activity, and that the selection is shaped by the complexity of the software in question. peerReviewed
Genetic and potential non-genetic benefits increase offspring fitness of polyandrous females in non- resource based mating system

Background: The adaptive significance of female polyandry is currently under considerable debate. In non-resource based mating systems, indirect, i.e. genetic benefits have been proposed to be responsible for the fitness gain from polyandry. We studied the benefits of polyandry in the Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) using an experimental design in which the material investments by the sires and maternal environmental effects were controlled. Results: Embryonic mortality showed a strong paternal genetic component, and it was lower in polyandrously fertilized offspring (sperm competition of two males) than in monandrous fertilizations. Ilgtermiņa mitohondriju funkcionalitātes traucējumu pētījumi pelēm pēc vidējās cerebrālās artērijas oklūzijas

Mitohondriji ir šūnu enerģijas spēkstacijas, kas oksidatīvās fosforilācijas rezultātā ražo organismam nepieciešamo enerģiju. Išemizēti apstākļi smadzenēs, it īpaši pēc cerebrāla infarkta, var radīt mitohondriju funkcionēšanas traucējumus. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt vidējās cerebrālās artērijas oklūzijas radīto ilgtermiņa ietekmi uz mitohondriālo elpošanu peļu CNS smadzeņu audu struktūrās. Iegūtie maģistra darba rezultāti liecina, ka cerebrāls infarkts pēc diviem, trijiem un četriem mēnešiem būtiski samazina mitohondriju skābekļa patēriņu abās smadzeņu garozas puslodēs un hipokampa struktūrā.
