Sistemātisks mikroplastmasas monitorings saldūdens ekosistēmā mikroplastmasas piesārņojuma un tā sezonālās dinamikas izvērtēšanai

Darbā veikta ar mikroplastmasu saistītās literatūras izskatīšana, pievēršot lielāku uzmanību pētījumiem par mikroplastmasu saldūdens sistēmās. Tika veikta sezonāla Mazā Baltezera mikroplastmasas piesārņojuma noteikšana, periodiski palageāli ievācot paraugus. Veikta paraugu attīrīšanu no piemaisījumiem. Mikroplastmasas noteikšana tika veikta ar FTIR-ATR metodi. Izvirzītā hipotēze – sezonalitātei ir būtiska ietekme uz konstatēto mikroplastmasas daudzumu un polimēru veidu.

Infrared based saliva screening test for COVID‐19

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has resulted in an unprecedented need for diagnostic testing that is critical in controlling the spread of COVID-19. We propose a portable infrared spectrometer with purpose-built transflection accessory for rapid point-of-care detection of COVID-19 markers in saliva. Initially, purified virion particles were characterized with Raman spectroscopy, synchrotron infrared (IR) and AFM-IR. Some intrinsic electronic properties of home prepared (HP) TiO2 catalysts were investigated by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and quasi-Fermi level measurements. These powders were used for carrying out the photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde and CO2 in water; the selectivity for aldehyde formation was enhanced by the addition of small amounts of ethanol, a typical hole trap. The values of band gap, valence band and conduction band edges are almost identical for all the HP samples in which anatase phase is predominant, whereas appreciable differences can be noticed for an HP sample containing high amount of rutile phase.
