Nonlinear response of a batch BZ oscillator to the addition of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate.
2007
The response of the Belousov-Zhabotinsy (BZ) system to the addition of increasing amounts of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was monitored at 25.0 degrees C in stirred batch conditions. The presence of SDS in the reaction mixture influences the oscillatory parameters, i.e., induction period and oscillation period, to an extent that depends on the surfactant concentration. The experimental results have shown that the induction period increases slightly on increasing surfactant concentration and, then, a further increase in the [SDS] leads to an enhancement while the oscillation period increases monotonously on increasing SDS concentration. It has been proposed that the re…
From attraction to repulsion : anion–π interactions between bromide and fluorinated phenyl groups
2011
Anion–π interactions in crystals of fluorobenzyl ammonium salts depend on the degree of fluorination at the aromatics.
Cooperativity of H-bonding and anion–π interaction in the binding of anions with neutral π-acceptors
2012
A rare anion-π complex between bromide and a neutral receptor is reported and related receptor systems are studied with a series of anions. The interaction is observed in the solid state and in solution, and further evidence for it is obtained by a computational study.
Surface and Electronic Features of Fluorinated TiO 2 and Their Influence on the Photocatalytic Degradation of 1-Methylnaphthalene
2020
International audience; Surface fluorination improves the photocatalytic activity of TiO2, and the influences of various features of fluorinated TiO2 (TiO2–F) have often been discussed in the literature. The present paper addresses the changes induced by surface fluorination on the morphological, structural, surface, and electronic features of TiO2. In particular, X-ray diffraction, specific surface area analysis, and transmission and scanning electron microscopy give evidence that surface fluorination does not affect the structural properties and the morphology of TiO2 nanoparticles. In contrast, fluorination induces changes of surface and electronic properties. Chemical and thermogravimet…
A highly enantioselective abiotic receptor for malate dianion in aqueous solution
2006
The highly enantioselective molecular recognition of the malate dianion by a synthetic receptor in aqueous solution has been studied by potentiometric titrations, mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), diffusion measurements (PGSE NMR) and molecular modeling. Sterically geared tris-thioureas; transmembrane chloride transporters with unusual activity and accessibility
2015
Tris-N-arylthioureas derived in one step from 1,3,5-tris(aminomethyl)-2,4,6-triethylbenzene are remarkably effective anion carriers. With optimised aryl substituents their activities come close to the best currently known, suggesting that they might find use as readily available standards in anion transport research.

Anion Recognition by a Bioactive Diureidodecalin Anionophore: Solid-State, Solution, and Computational Studies
2018
Recent work has identified a bis-(p-nitrophenyl)ureidodecalin anion carrier as a promising candidate for biomedical applications, showing good activity for chloride transport in cells yet almost no cytotoxicity. To underpin further development of this and related compounds, a detailed structural and binding investigation is reported. Crystal structures of the transporter as five solvates confirm the diaxial positioning of urea groups while revealing a degree of conformational flexibility. Structures of complexes with Cl−, Br−, NO3 −, SO4 2− and AcO−, supported by computational studies, show how the binding site can adapt to accommodate these anions. 1H NMR binding studies revealed exception…
Watching adsorption and electron beam induced decomposition on the model system Mo(CO)(6)/Cu(111) by X-ray absorption and photoemission spectroscopies
2013
Abstract An in-depth study of the first steps of electron beam assisted growth of Mo from molybdenum hexacarbonyl on Cu(1 1 1) has been carried out exploiting the complementarity of X-ray photoemission and X-ray absorption spectroscopies. Frank van der Merwe (2D) growth mode has been observed for the completion of the two first monolayers of adsorbed molecules through a simple physisorption process. Irradiation of the Mo(CO)6 deposit by 1 keV electron beam induces a modification of molybdenum coordination, the average number of C-neighbors decreasing from 6 to 3. Decomposed molecules remain on the surface after annealing at 520 K and organize themselves, the molybdenum atoms moving in Cu(1 …
Identification, by UV absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, of the …
