Robust H∞ sliding mode control with pole placement for a fluid power electrohydraulic actuator (EHA) system

Comparison of anterior cingulate vs. insular cortex as targets for real-time fMRI regulation during pain stimulation

Real time functional magnetic resonance imaging (rt fMRI) neurofeedback allows learning voluntary control over specific brain areas by means of operant conditioning and has been shown to decrease pain perception. Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich damit, wie DaF-Lehrende in internationalen Videokonferenzen untereinander negatives oder kritisches Feedback aushandeln. Nach einem kurzen Überblick zum Forschungsstand zu negativem bzw. kritischem Feedback in der Lehrendenbildung wird das Konzept von kollegialem Feedback im Erasmus+-Projekt LEELU (www.leelu.eu) dargelegt, das die Datengrundlage für die vorliegende empirische Untersuchung liefert. Optimal passive-damping design using a decentralized velocity-feedback H-infinity approach

In this work, a new strategy to design passive energy dissipation systems for vibration control of large structures is presented. The method is based on the equivalence between passive damping systems and fully decentralized static velocity-feedback controllers. This equivalence allows to take advantage of recent developments in static output-feedback control design to formulate the passive-damping design as a single optimization problem with Linear Matrix Inequality constraints. To illustrate the application of the proposed methodology, a passive damping system is designed for the seismic protection of a five-story building with excellent results. Peer Reviewed

A Public Barrier Tracker to Support the Web Accessibility Directive

In this paper we propose the Public Barrier Tracker (PBT) – a comprehensive solution that supports both filing and handling of user feedback on web accessibility. We give an overview of some existing approaches for gathering user feedback on accessibility barriers and outline the PBT functionality. The PBT can also offer further support for the implementation of the WAD: The collected data could be useful for monitoring and reporting as well as the enforcement mechanism.

New fiber laser architecture with transform-limited nonlinear spectral compression

International audience; We numerically demonstrate a new fiber laser architecture supporting spectral compression of negatively chirped pulses in passive normally dispersive fiber. Such a process is beneficial for improving the energy efficiency of the cavity as it prevents narrow spectral filtering from being highly dissipative. The proposed laser design provides an elegant way of generating transform-limited picosecond pulses.

Redesigning agrosystems with more ecological regulations can help feed a growing population, preserve soils for future productivity and reduce environmental impacts. However, guidelines for redesigning agrosystems from natural systems are limited. Reviewing the last knowledge of ecosystem functioning, we outlined four ecological systems synchronizing the supply of soluble nutrients by soil biota to fluctuating plant nutrient demand. Environmental spillovers and their impacts on housing prices: A spatial hedonic analysis

This paper investigates the spatial dimension of environmental factors on housing prices. We develop spatial hedonic models to estimate the implicit prices of various environmental attributes. The spatial dimension can be interpreted in terms of local or global spillovers. We conduct an empirical study in the Loire estuary (France). We focus on natural areas and more artificialized ones (ocean frontage, wetlands, rivers, and noisy roads). We show that, depending on the spatial model used, the implicit price is more than just the estimated coefficient value and combines both a feedback effect and a propagation effect.
