Rhétorique du menu gastronomique

The elaboration of a restaurant menu as a text aiming at seducing and at convincing visitors, infers that it does not merely enumerates various dishes among which we are to choose from, but that it is a rhetorical production whose processes need to be analysed and whose function needs to be understood. The corpus being studied consists of gourmet menus selected from about twenty fine restaurants. It certainly enables us to observe the main figures of speech (metaphors, metonymies); above all, it reveals the great variety of the rhetorical gear in use : analogies, transgressions, systems of values are as many means of creating the "genuine" flavour of food.

Tutkimus käsittelee kielikuvien argumentatiivisuutta belgialaisen artistin Stromaen toisen studioalbumin Racine carrée sanoituksissa. Aineistoksi valittiin kyseinen albumi sillä perusteella, että se on saavuttanut suurta suosiota ympäri maailmaa myös maissa, joissa ranska ei ole virallinen kieli. Tarkoituksena on saada selville, kuinka Stro-mae käyttää sonoriteettien toistoa tuodakseen esille näkemyksensä asioista, joita hän käsittelee kappaleissaan. Recovery of rescuers from a 24-hour shift and its association with physical fitness

The work of rescuers can be physically and psychologically very demanding so it is important for them to have sufficient recovery between work shifts. The purpose of this thesis was to study recovery of rescuers and to see if physical fitness is associated with recovery from work shifts. Heart rate variability (HRV) recordings reflect changes in the autonomic nervous system, and they were used for the analysis of stress and recovery. HRV was recorded for 96 hours, from the beginning of a 24-hour work shift to the beginning of the next shift. New 2-Methoxy Acetylenic Acids and Pyrazole Alkaloids from the Marine Sponge Cinachyrella sp.

Three new 2-methoxy acetylenic acids (1–3) and a known derivative (4), in addition to three new natural pyrazole alkaloids (5–7) were isolated from an Indonesian marine sponge of the genus Cinachyrella. Compounds 5 and 6 have previously been reported as synthetic compounds. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy as well as by mass spectrometric data. The absolute configuration of the new acetylenic acid derivatives (1–3) was established by ECD spectroscopy. All isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against L5178Y mouse lymphoma cells. Compounds 1–4 exhibited strong activity with an IC50 value of 0.3 µ…
