Energy scales and magnetoresistance at a quantum critical point

The magnetoresistance (MR) of CeCoIn_5 is notably different from that in many conventional metals. We show that a pronounced crossover from negative to positive MR at elevated temperatures and fixed magnetic fields is determined by the scaling behavior of quasiparticle effective mass. At a quantum critical point (QCP) this dependence generates kinks (crossover points from fast to slow growth) in thermodynamic characteristics (like specific heat, magnetization etc) at some temperatures when a strongly correlated electron system transits from the magnetic field induced Landau Fermi liquid (LFL) regime to the non-Fermi liquid (NFL) one taking place at rising temperatures. Quantum simulation of the cooperative Jahn-Teller transition in 1D Ion crystals

The Jahn-Teller effect explains distortions and nondegenerate energy levels in molecular and solid-state physics via a coupling of effective spins to collective bosons. Here we propose and theoretically analyze the quantum simulation of a many-body Jahn-Teller model with linear ion crystals subjected to magnetic field gradients. We show that the system undergoes a quantum magnetic structural phase transition which leads to a reordering of particle positions and the formation of a spin-phonon quasicondensate in mesoscopic ion chains.
Ultrafast critical ground state preparation via bang-bang protocols

The fast and faithful preparation of the ground state of quantum systems is a challenging task but crucial for several applications in the realm of quantum-based technologies. Decoherence poses a limit to the maximum time-window allowed to an experiment to faithfully achieve such desired states. This is of particular significance in critical systems, where the vanishing energy gap challenges an adiabatic ground state preparation. Probing Quantum Frustrated Systems via Factorization of the Ground State

The existence of definite orders in frustrated quantum systems is related rigorously to the occurrence of fully factorized ground states below a threshold value of the frustration. Ground-state separability thus provides a natural measure of frustration: strongly frustrated systems are those that cannot accommodate for classical-like solutions. The exact form of the factorized ground states and the critical frustration are determined for various classes of nonexactly solvable spin models with different spatial ranges of the interactions. Activating remote entanglement in a quantum network by local counting of identical particles

Quantum information and communication processing within quantum networks usually employs identical particles. Despite this, the physical role of quantum statistical nature of particles in large-scale networks remains elusive. Here, we show that just the indistinguishability of fermions makes it possible a new mechanism of entanglement transfer in many-node quantum networks. This process activates remote entanglement among distant sites, which do not share a common past, by only locally counting identical particles and classical communication. Grover’s Search with Faults on Some Marked Elements

Grover’s algorithm is a quantum query algorithm solving the unstructured search problem of size [Formula: see text] using [Formula: see text] queries. It provides a significant speed-up over any classical algorithm [3]. The running time of the algorithm, however, is very sensitive to errors in queries. Multiple authors have analysed the algorithm using different models of query errors and showed the loss of quantum speed-up [2, 6]. We study the behavior of Grover’s algorithm in the model where the search space contains both faulty and non-faulty marked elements. Theoretical study of YbOH173 to search for the nuclear magnetic quadrupole moment

A $CP$-violating interaction of the nuclear magnetic quadrupole moment (MQM) with electrons in the ytterbium monohydroxide molecule $^{173}\mathrm{YbOH}$ is considered. Both the MQM of the $^{173}\mathrm{Yb}$ nucleus and the molecular interaction constant ${W}_{M}$ are estimated. Electron correlation effects are taken into account within the relativistic Fock-space coupled-cluster method. Results are interpreted in terms of the strength constants of $CP$-violating nuclear forces, neutron dipole moment (EDM), QCD vacuum angle $\ensuremath{\theta}$, quark EDMs, and chromo-EDMs.

We present a Mathematica package for the calculation of Wick contractions in quantum field theories - QCT. Furthermore the package aims at automatically generating code for the calculation of physical matrix elements, suitable for numerical evaluation in a C++ program. To that end commonly used algebraic manipulations for the calculation of matrix elements in lattice QCD are implemented.

Altered cerebral blood flow velocity features in fibromyalgia patients in resting-state conditions

[EN] The aim of this study is to characterize in resting-state conditions the cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) signals of fibromyalgia patients. The anterior and middle cerebral arteries of both hemispheres from 15 women with fibromyalgia and 15 healthy women were monitored using Transcranial Doppler (TCD) during a 5-minute eyes-closed resting period.
