Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan opettajien näkemyksiä siitä, millaisia haasteita on luokkahuoneen vuorovaikutustilanteissa tapahtuvassa formatiivisessa arvioinnissa. Aineisto koostuu viiden opettajan keskusteluista täydennyskoulutuksessa. Keskustelujen teemoina olivat opettajien omien videonäytteiden ja kirjallisen materiaalin pohjalta opettajan sensitiivisyys, palaute ja dialogisuus. Vaikka keskustelun perussävy koulutuksen aikana oli myönteinen ja aineena oli oman työn kehittäminen, esiin nousi huomattava määrä oppimista edistävän luokkahuonevuorovaikutuksen ja arvioinnin haasteita. Diplomdarbā aprakstītā pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt kādas ir atšķirības starp tradicionālajiem un tiešsaistes testiem, kāda ir skolēnu attieksme pret tiem, kuram testa veidam skolēni dot priekšroku un kāpēc. Pētījumam izmantotais datu ieguves instruments ir aptaujas anketa, kas tika izveidota un izsūtīta skolēniem, izmantojot elektronisko pastu. Pētījumā noskaidrots, ka pašlaik tiešsaistes testi tiek izmantoti biežāk kā tradicionālie testi. Skolēniem vairāk patīk tiešsaistes testi to viegluma un ērtuma dēļ. Essays on wages, promotions and performance evaluations

This dissertation comprises four empirical research articles that use personnel data from a large university and worker-level panel data from Finland to examine the determinants of wages, promotions and employee performance evaluations. The first article employs personnel data to examine the importance of worker output and job seniority as predictors of employee performance evaluations and promotions. The results suggest that better-performing employees – with output measured both in absolute terms and relative to peers – were more likely to be assigned higher performance grades and had a higher probability of being promoted to more complex jobs than their peers with similar characteristics…

From ‘no dogs here!’ to ‘beware of the dog!’ : restricting dog signs as a reflection of social norms

Signs in public space reflect ‘normalcy’ in a community. The authors ask what restricting signs tell us about a society? In order to explore the system and variation in the ways dog signs manifest different norms and control, they compare two different data sets: dog signs in a Northern European town, Jyväskylä in Finland, and two Eastern European villages in Romania. They apply a qualitative methodology based on visual communication, geosemiotics and linguistic landscape studies.
